End-to-End Telemedicine Platform Developer
Avizia, a telemedicine company headquartered in Reston, Virginia, has recently secured $11 million in Series A financing, according to mobihealthnews. The company had previously raised $8.5 million in two rounds of funding in February 2015 and August 2014, bringing its total capital raised to $19.5 million. This latest round was led by Blue Heron Capital, with participation from Lavrock Ventures, NextGen Venture Partners, Middleland Capital, Waterline Capital, and Blu Ventures.
“Telemedicine is rapidly developing and providing more specialized medical services to the entire healthcare system. It can also reduce medical costs, make it easier for users to access the healthcare system, improve user experience, and increase satisfaction,” said Tom Benedetti, a partner at Blue Heron Capital.

Avizia, spun off from Cisco in 2013, leverages technologies similar to those of Carena and Honeywell to provide telehealth management solutions for service providers. Avizia integrates various components of telehealth into a comprehensive package, offering an end-to-end platform. This platform connects mobile applications with traditional medical carts and peripheral devices, providing healthcare providers with electronic health record (EHR) systems and backend infrastructure.
“Improving patient care is the core of everything we do. To fulfill this commitment, we are dedicated to building an end-to-end telehealth platform that enables every provider to serve any patient, anytime and anywhere,” said Mike Baird, CEO and Co-founder of Avizia.

“If we take a closer look at the current investment opportunities, it becomes evident that Avizia is the best fit for us. Its differentiated software platform offers healthcare systems greater flexibility, along with broader use cases and superior integrated connectivity,” said Benedetti.
This round of financing will enable Avizia to further expand its market presence and deepen its telemedicine video collaborations with hospitals and physicians. Recently, the company has entered markets in over 400 hospitals and clinics across 36 countries.
