Recently, the Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, in collaboration with multiple internet payment companies and pilot hospitals, jointly developed a mobile medical insurance payment platform. On July 26, after nearly a month of meticulous preparation, JiuYi160 partnered with Alipay to leverage advanced product concepts and internet IT technologies, officially launching the mobile medical insurance payment project in Shenzhen. This initiative enabled Longgang District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital to become the first hospital in Longgang District to formally activate mobile medical insurance payments.

Industry analysts view the launch of mobile medical insurance payments as a deep collaboration between internet companies and government agencies in the healthcare sector. Patients holding financial social security cards can now simultaneously process medical insurance reimbursements and out-of-pocket payments directly on their mobile phones. Through the JiuYi160 platform, patients can not only access end-to-end medical services—including appointment registration, in-consultation payments, retrieval of test and examination reports, and post-consultation follow-ups—but also seamlessly resolve the issue of real-time medical insurance reimbursement. This development fully integrates the mobile healthcare payment process, truly enabling patients to enjoy medical care that is convenient, secure, effective, and transparent.

Medical Insurance Outpatient Payment Takes Only Seconds – Fast and Convenient

According to JiuYi160, the scope of the pilot program for mobile medical insurance payments includes general outpatient registration and payment services at participating hospitals. Residents can use the corresponding payment platforms, as well as the JiuYi160 App and JiuYi160 WeChat account, to experience the convenience of online mobile payments covered by medical insurance.

To use mobile medical insurance payment, patients must first bind their financial social security card by clicking on the Electronic Social Security Card option within the City Services page of Alipay. If the card is not bound, the system will guide the patient through the binding process during payment. Upon completion of consultation at Longgang District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, once the physician has issued the prescription, the patient will immediately receive a payment notification. After submitting the medical insurance payment, the system will automatically connect to the social security platform for settlement. Once the medical insurance settlement is successful, the system will display payment details, including the total order amount, the amount covered by medical insurance, and the out-of-pocket expense.

At this stage, users can also click “Payment Method” to switch their online payment option (e.g., Yu’e Bao, bank cards). Clicking “Confirm Payment” proceeds with the out-of-pocket settlement. Upon successful out-of-pocket payment, the system will display a payment confirmation and provide a detailed breakdown of the amounts covered by medical insurance and those paid out-of-pocket. The entire process takes only a few seconds, significantly improving patients’ healthcare efficiency.

Implementing Mobile Medical Insurance Payments Aligns with Public Will and Holds Historical Significance

According to data released by the Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, as of April 2016, more than 12 million people were enrolled in Shenzhen’s basic medical insurance scheme. The introduction of mobile payment for medical insurance services will bring great convenience to Shenzhen residents.

As a leading internet healthcare service platform in China, JiuYi160 has long been strategically positioned in mobile medical insurance payments. It has achieved full coverage of three payment channels—Alipay, WeChat Pay, and Ping An Pay—in the first batch of pilot hospitals in Shenzhen, further alleviating the longstanding issue of “three long waits and one short consultation” in healthcare delivery.

According to statistics, the number of in-consultation payments on the Jiuyi 160 platform has exceeded 600,000, with the total payment amount surpassing RMB 100 million, placing it far ahead in the mobile healthcare payment sector. Currently, Jiuyi 160 has connected with more than 3,000 large hospitals across China, covering over 200 cities. The platform now has 470,000 affiliated physicians, serves more than one million users daily, and has provided a cumulative total of 250 million online medical services to patients nationwide. The number of real-name registered users has exceeded 90 million. Furthermore, this June, Jiuyi 160 launched China’s first patient-centric internet-based tiered diagnosis and treatment platform strategy. To date, the Jiuyi 160 platform has facilitated 2.15 million referral cases and integrated 173 community health centers, thereby supporting the comprehensive implementation of the national tiered diagnosis and treatment policy.

Longgang District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine has partnered with Jiuyi 160 to ensure that mobile medical insurance payments truly serve the public by providing convenient and affordable healthcare services in Shenzhen. In the future, Jiuyi 160 will collaborate with more hospitals to launch mobile medical insurance payment services, benefiting a broader patient population.
