Chunyu Doctor Launches Online Consultation Open Platform, Making Healthcare Accessible Everywhere

On August 3, the “Openness, Connectivity, and Win-Win Cooperation” Strategic Launch Event for the Chunyu Doctor Online Consultation Open Platform was held in Beijing. As China’s largest online consultation platform, Chunyu Doctor will further leverage its online consultation service capabilities and provide free access to its services for hardware manufacturers, apps, websites, WeChat official accounts, and other entities with such needs.

This means that internet users will no longer need to download or log into the “Chunyu Doctor” app to access online consultation services; instead, they can enjoy these services directly through any online platform integrated with Chunyu Doctor’s online consultation system. Zhang Rui, CEO of Chunyu Doctor, stated that with the advancement of internet technologies, online consultations may become a more vibrant and commercially promising entry point for internet-based healthcare than PC-era search engines, driving the evolution of internet healthcare services from “connecting people with information” to “connecting people with services.”

According to the “2015 Statistical Bulletin on the Development of Health and Family Planning in China,” recently released by the National Health and Family Planning Commission, the total number of outpatient visits at medical and health institutions across China reached 7.7 billion in 2015, with residents making an average of 5.6 visits per person. Additional data show that daily search queries on pharmaceutical and healthcare websites exceed ten million.

The substantial demand for medical care and the scarcity of resources are challenges that China cannot resolve in the short term. Against this backdrop, the internet has increasingly become a vital channel for accessing medical information and services. However, following the “Wei Zexi incident,” public ability to discern the credibility of health-related information has improved, with a growing number of people opting to consult more specialized and professional internet/mobile healthcare platforms to obtain advice and recommendations from licensed physicians.

Zhang Rui stated that the position of mobile healthcare as a more vital and commercially promising entry point to health services, following search engines, is becoming increasingly prominent. Unlike search engines, which connect people with information, online consultation companies connect people with people, and people with services. With the launch of its open platform, Chunyu Yisheng (Spring Rain Doctor) will leverage this borderless online consultation gateway to deeply tap into the platform’s consultation capabilities, reinforce the foundational role of this service in mobile healthcare, and strive to become the secondary entry point for Chinese citizens’ health-related inquiries.

According to the “Online Consultation Capability Report” released by Chunyu Yisheng, the cumulative number of physicians registered on the Chunyu Yisheng platform has approached 500,000, with an active physician rate of 20%. This means that nearly 100,000 physicians are available daily on the Chunyu Yisheng platform to respond to consultation inquiries from users across China—a figure far exceeding that of any single hospital in the country. As online consultation platforms gain greater prominence as access points for healthcare services, this proportion is likely to increase further.

Data shows that the physicians are sourced from all provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across China, excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, covering 65 secondary medical specialties. The majority of physicians are aged between 25 and 45, with a male-to-female ratio of approximately 6:4. In terms of professional titles, 24% of physicians on the Chunyu Yisheng platform hold senior titles, while 38% hold intermediate titles and 38% hold junior titles. The proportions of physicians with senior and intermediate titles are both significantly higher than the national average.

At the press conference, Wang Jianguo, Vice President of Chunyu Yisheng (Spring Rain Doctor), stated that, leveraging the quantity and quality of physicians on its platform as well as their familiarity with and acceptance of mobile internet technologies, Chunyu Yisheng could unlock several times more consultation capacity. It is precisely this reserve of capability, combined with the accelerating evolution of the internet, that makes the launch of Chunyu Yisheng’s Open Platform for Online Consultations timely.

At the press conference, Wang Jianguo, Vice President of Chunyu Doctor, introduced that users can access the Chunyu Online Consultation Open Platform via the navigation bar on the official Chunyu Doctor website. After completing the initial application by providing relevant information such as company name and intended use on the open consultation platform, Chunyu Doctor staff will follow up for further coordination. Currently, the platforms available for integration include mobile apps, WeChat Official Accounts, and websites.

Wang Jianguo also described the boundless possibilities of online consultation platforms. With the further development of the internet, the era of the “Internet of Everything,” represented by the Internet of Things (IoT), is gradually arriving. Moving forward, Spring Rain Doctor will be dedicated to integrating its online consultation services into a wider variety of application scenarios. For instance, when purchasing medications, customers may simply scan a QR code at the pharmacy to receive professional guidance from doctors on the Spring Rain Doctor platform. Similarly, with the advancement of smart hardware, a smart glucose meter could directly connect users to Spring Rain Doctor’s consultation services.

According to VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat), Chunyu Doctor has previously engaged in similar explorations with several mobile hardware manufacturers, search engines, and food companies. Wang Jianguo revealed that a variety of enterprises and platforms, including Baidu Doctor, Alibaba Health, Huawei, Samsung, Sino-UK Life Insurance, Generali China Life Insurance, and Sunshine Insurance Group, have already integrated Chunyu Doctor’s online consultation services.
