Technological innovation is driving the transformation and upgrading of the healthcare industry. Accolade, a medical technology platform company, is leveraging its healthcare technology and services platform to provide “expert health assistant” services to corporate employers, medical institutions, and health systems. Recently, Accolade secured $71.1 million in Series E funding, which will be used to continuously optimize and upgrade its healthcare service platform.
Accolade, founded in 2007 and headquartered in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, currently has 700 employees. This low-profile company is not widely known; even Accolade’s CEO, Rajeev Singh, has stated, “We are the best-kept secret in healthcare.” However, its recent financing round of over $70 million has significantly boosted Accolade’s visibility. The funding came from two venture capital firms: Andreessen Horowitz and Madrona Venture Group. To date, Accolade has completed seven financing rounds, with total funding exceeding $163 million.
Following this financing round, Accolade will add Jeff Jordan, general partner at Andreessen Horowitz and former CEO of the OpenTable dining platform, to its board of directors.

In early August this year, Accolade partnered with Mercer to launch the “Mercer Complete Care” program, which aims to enhance corporate benefits, create a better healthcare experience for employees, improve employee health outcomes, and boost long-term corporate performance. By integrating their respective healthcare resources—combining Accolade’s user base and health technology infrastructure with Mercer’s industry insights and enterprise client portfolio—the two companies seek to address the confusion employees face when navigating healthcare consultations, streamline treatment processes, and set new standards for healthcare services.

Accolade CEO Rajeev Singh, the company’s innovative healthcare analytics tools and clinical models
Rajeev Singh joined the Accolade team last year, having previously spent 22 years at Concur Technologies, the travel management company he founded and which was later acquired by SAP. When asked about his reasons for joining, Singh stated that Accolade’s integration of people, networks, and healthcare is quite compelling.
Investors appear to be interested in Accolade for similar reasons. Jeff Jordan, a partner at the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, stated, “The Accolade platform helps enterprises enhance the quality of their healthcare benefits while continuously reducing medical costs. It is, to our knowledge, the finest healthcare service tool available.” Accolade indicated that it would allocate the new funding toward improving its technology platform, investing in medical research, and expanding its market presence.
