Recently, the number of registered users of Ping An Good Doctor, an O2O health management and medical service platform under Ping An Insurance, exceeded 100 million for the first time, making it the mobile healthcare application with the highest coverage in China. Ping An Good Doctor is also the first mobile application platform under Ping An Insurance to surpass 100 million users.

Following the successful completion of its $500 million Series A financing round in May this year, Ping An Good Doctor’s valuation has reached $3 billion, making it the largest innovative company in this sector in China.

Wang Tao, founder of Ping An Good Doctor, stated that in the mobile healthcare industry, “those who secure medical professionals win the market.” The core appeal of Ping An Good Doctor lies in its professional doctors and services, as well as timely and precise mobile consultations, which collectively foster user trust. Aggregating medical resources requires sustained upfront investment. “Currently, we have a self-built medical team of 1,000 members, collaborate with 50,000 external physicians, and partner with over 3,000 hospitals and clinics.”

In the new wave of “Internet Plus Healthcare,” domestic mobile health enterprises are garnering increasing attention. Users are being thoroughly liberated from the traditional, low-frequency scenario of “going to the hospital for medical care,” with their needs extending instead to daily health consultations and everyday health management for the general public. Meanwhile, the experience across various stages of traditional medical care—including pre-consultation, during consultation, and post-consultation—is being improved. An industry insider in the mobile health sector stated that as usage scenarios undergo comprehensive upgrades, user stickiness will naturally increase.

To enhance user satisfaction, Ping An Good Doctor has not only built an in-house team of 1,000 full-time physicians but also provides auxiliary diagnostic services, rehabilitation guidance, and medication recommendations through 24/7 online text and video consultations. Additionally, it has contracted with over 50,000 doctors across 3,000 designated offline hospitals to offer services such as assisted triage and referral, initial offline consultations, and follow-up visits for returning patients.

According to reports, Ping An Good Doctor has established a three-tier physician system. The core tier consists of full-time employed in-house family physicians and specialist teams; the secondary tier comprises chief-level experts and renowned doctors from Grade A tertiary hospitals across China who have signed contracts with Ping An; and the outer tier includes external collaborating physicians from the broader social medical community. This three-tiered physician system comprehensively addresses users’ diverse consultation needs across multiple dimensions, including preventive healthcare, assisted triage and preliminary diagnosis, follow-up visits, and second opinions for complex and refractory conditions. Meanwhile, on July 1 this year, Ping An Good Doctor launched its “Healthcare at Home” service in Guangzhou for the first time. Through this service, family physicians provide home visits offering health consultations, chronic disease management, and personal health record creation, thereby deeply implementing the hierarchical diagnosis and treatment policy.

Ping An Healthcare stated that, through in-depth collaborations with tertiary hospitals and the provision of at-home services by family doctors, as well as by optimizing pharmaceutical distribution and establishing a closed loop for insurance and payments, it will gradually meet users’ diverse needs and expectations for mobile healthcare.
