In early 2015, U.S. President Obama proposed the Precision Medicine Initiative, instantly making “precision medicine” a hot topic worldwide and stirring up significant activity in the pharmaceutical and health industry markets. China also unveiled its own “Precision Medicine” plan this year. The National Health and Family Planning Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology successively convened expert meetings on the precision medicine strategy, planning to invest a total of RMB 60 billion by 2030.

Amidst the revolution and innovation of existing healthcare models, precision medicine—predicated on the rapid development of the molecular diagnostics industry, the increasing maturity of biomedical analysis, and the ever-evolving cloud computing technologies for biological big data—will gradually shift from the current “symptom-based medicine” model to an “individualized medicine” model. However, how to apply precision diagnostics to frontline clinical practice while optimizing patient experience and enhancing healthcare efficiency has become a hot topic of discussion within both the healthcare and capital investment sectors.

Beijing Cayody Medical Laboratory Co., Ltd. was established in 2015 and is located in the Peking University Healthcare Industrial Park within the Zhongguancun Life Science Park in Changping District, Beijing. The company obtained its Medical Institution Practice License in July of this year, enabling it to provide compliant medical services. This product launch event showcased Cayody Medical Laboratory’s explorations in the field of personalized precision medicine. Leveraging various testing platforms—including next-generation sequencing (NGS), first-generation sequencing, quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR), and even digital PCR (dPCR)—the company delivers personalized and precise medical services to hospitals and individuals. With features such as gut microbiota monitoring and personalized medication guidance, it offers a comprehensive personalized health management system with a focus on women’s and children’s health, ranging from genetic testing to cancer screening.

Exploration and Popularization of Personalized Medicine

On September 2, 2016, Beijing Kayou Di Medical Laboratory showcased its explorations in personalized precision medicine at a product launch event. Together with Academician Zhou Honghao, Dr. Cui Yutao, and other renowned experts from various fields, the company discussed and took the first step toward integrating precision diagnostics into clinical applications.

Personalized medication has always been the most critical component of precision medicine. As an academician stationed at the Cayudi Academician Expert Workstation, Academician Zhou Honghao has long been dedicated to promoting the adoption of personalized medication guidelines in China. He served as the lead author in drafting the “Technical Guidelines for Gene Testing of Drug-Metabolizing Enzymes and Drug Target Genes” issued by the National Health and Family Planning Commission. At the product launch event, Academician Zhou reported on the current status and penetration of personalized medication in China. He emphasized that personalized medication is an inevitable direction for the development of the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries; however, due to the high technical barriers associated with traditional molecular testing, its widespread adoption remains to be achieved.

Mini8 Plus Patent First Exposed

As the debut of the Mini8 Plus quantitative fluorescence PCR detection platform following its CFDA certification, this product launch event unveiled the design and patent details of the Mini8 Plus system to the public for the first time. Ms. Li Xiang, Founder and CEO of Coyote Bioscience, showcased the platform’s applications in rapid point-of-care molecular diagnostics, covering clinical healthcare, disease prevention and control, and primary health examinations.

The “On-Site Genetic Testing for 100 Participants” also drew significant attention from attendees. After collecting a buccal swab at the registration desk, participants simply scraped the inner cheek, added the testing reagent, and loaded the sample into the Mini8 Plus. Within just over an hour, they received their genetic test results, revealing their individual capacity for alcohol metabolism.
Rapid Gut Microbiota Testing

Next, the medical laboratory unveiled another flagship product: gut microbiome testing. Leveraging Cayd’s cutting-edge technology platform and supported by strong strategic partners, the laboratory has launched rapid gut microbiota testing and monitoring services. These offerings provide personalized, precision testing tailored to diverse populations, ranging from pathogenic bacteria detection and gut flora analysis to sub-health assessment and early screening for colorectal cancer.

Dr. Cui Yutao is a renowned pediatric specialist in China who has long been committed to leveraging precision medicine to address the inefficiencies and limited accuracy of current medical diagnostic methods. He aims to provide patients with more accurate and rapid testing through molecular diagnostic technologies. At the product launch event for Cayudi Medical Laboratory, Dr. Cui shared his insights on the clinical application of precision diagnostics, citing successful collaborations in the Han Hong Foundation’s “Hundred Experts Aid Gansu” public welfare campaign and in gut microbiota monitoring.

Equipping clinicians with molecular diagnostics is Cayd’s approach to advancing precision medicine. Since the beginning of this year, Cayd Bio has engaged in a series of in-depth collaborations with Yu Xue Yuan, led by Dr. Cui, with the aim of taking the first step toward implementing precision medicine in the field of pediatrics through these initiatives.

Kayou Di Public Welfare Journey Unveils Its Curtain

Following the product launch, the Cayudi Public Welfare Tour was officially unveiled. It is reported that since the beginning of this year, Cayudi has continuously increased its investment in public welfare initiatives. Starting in May, it participated in the government’s “Benefit-the-People Project” in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, providing free precision health screenings to over 5,000 elderly individuals at the grassroots level. In July, it joined Dr. Cui Yutao in the “Hundred Experts Aid Gansu” public welfare project organized by the Han Hong Foundation, donating genetic testing services valued at RMB 100,000 to local residents affected by genetic disorders.

At the press conference, Calibre Diagnostics once again partnered with the Han Hong Love Charity Foundation and Dr. Cui Yutao to donate genetic testing services valued at RMB 200,000 for charitable causes. In the future, this “Little Wolf” team will further collaborate with multiple public welfare organizations, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the China Women’s Development Foundation.
