On September 4, 2016, iKang Anjun, the premium service brand under iKang Group (NASDAQ: KANG), a leading health management organization in China, joined forces with WorldCare (Beijing) Hospital Management Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “WorldCare”), the exclusive representative of WorldCare International—a global provider of second medical opinions—in the Greater China region, to officially launch the iKang Anjun–WorldCare International Telemedicine Platform. This initiative aims to enable more Chinese people to access top-tier medical resources across the United States.

Ms. Liu Ning, Deputy General Manager of the Strategic Development Department at iKang Group, stated regarding the strategic cooperation between the two parties that iKang Junan’s mission is to provide world-class preventive and clinical medical services to corporate executives and high-net-worth families. To this end, over the past two years, more than RMB 300 million has been invested to establish three iKang Junan International Health & Wellness Centers in the central urban areas of Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai. These centers offer comprehensive health screenings and full-spectrum clinical medical services. They are equipped with globally leading high-end medical devices, including two 128-slice Siemens dual-source CT scanners, one 64-slice Siemens CT scanner, two 3.0T Siemens MRI systems, one 3.0T GE MRI system, complete sets of Olympus gastrointestinal endoscopy systems, as well as comprehensive diagnostic solutions from Roche and Siemens. This level of configuration far exceeds that of the health examination centers in the vast majority of Grade III Class A hospitals in China. Furthermore, by collaborating with authoritative experts across various medical fields, the centers provide professional in-depth health screenings, cancer screening, and international medical services.
Meanwhile, to meet clients’ demand for top-tier medical care, iKang Guoan regularly invites clinical experts from Harvard Medical School’s affiliated hospitals to provide specialized consultations and second opinions, while also establishing a green channel for clients seeking treatment at these institutions. By partnering with Vodicare, iKang Guoan will leverage its existing resources to integrate the expertise of over 20,000 specialists from seven world-leading medical centers within The WorldCare Consortium®—including Boston Children’s Hospital, Duke University Medical Center, Jefferson Health, Mayo Clinic, Mass General Brigham (comprising Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and McLean Hospital), Penn Medicine, and UCLA Health. This collaboration enables the provision of services such as international second medical opinions, remote consultations with global experts, and facilitated access to medical care in the United States.
Regarding this strategic partnership, Dr. Wu Shixin, Chief Medical Officer of WorldCare and Director of the Interventional Nephrology Division at Massachusetts General Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, stated that through collaboration with iKang Group and leveraging iKang Junan’s International Consultation Center, WorldCare will provide iKang Junan’s clients with high-quality international remote expert consultations and professional services such as referrals for medical treatment in the United States, thereby bringing the highest quality American medical services to more Chinese citizens. WorldCare’s unique WorldCare Consortium® comprises seven world-leading medical centers with an expert team of 20,500 professionals. According to the latest 2016–2017 Best Hospitals rankings published by U.S. News & World Report, among the hospitals that have formed service alliances with WorldCare are three of the top five hospitals overall, the number one ranked children’s hospital, and two of the top four cancer hospitals. With the mission of “helping everyone pursue the highest level of health,” WorldCare aims to join forces with iKang Junan to jointly create premium healthcare services.
Mr. Zhang Ligang, Chairman and CEO of iKang Group, commented on this strategic partnership, “Following Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, and Hangzhou, the fifth iKang JunAn center will soon open in Shanghai. The strategic collaboration between iKang JunAn and WorldCare will further strengthen iKang JunAn’s international medical team and represents a significant step in its expansion within the high-end healthcare sector. By joining forces with WorldCare, iKang JunAn aims to enable more Chinese people to access top-tier U.S. medical resources, ensuring that every life receives the most professional care.”
Dr. Tom Fox, Dean of the Beijing Flagship Center of iKang Anjian Health International and former Associate Dean of Harvard Medical School, stated, “Mr. Zhang Ligang, Founder of iKang Group, enrolled in the graduate program at Harvard Medical School 21 years ago, when I served as the Associate Dean overseeing graduate studies. Two years ago, I had the honor of accepting Mr. Zhang’s invitation to serve as Dean of the Beijing Flagship Center of iKang Anjian Health International, as I believe that iKang Group, under his leadership, is making a significant impact in the field of preventive medicine. I hope to work with Mr. Zhang to establish a platform for close collaboration and communication between iKang Anjian and medical experts from Harvard Medical School’s major affiliated hospitals, thereby enabling iKang Anjian’s clients to access services on par with those offered by top-tier U.S. hospitals. Today, the partnership between iKang Anjian and Vodicom clearly represents a substantial step forward toward realizing this vision.”
