In September 2016, the WeChat Smart Hospital platform of Beijing Aerospace General Hospital—the largest tertiary general hospital in southern Beijing—was officially launched. This marks the entry of Beijing’s public general hospitals into the “Internet Plus” era, enabling residents of Beijing to enjoy convenient, end-to-end medical services via the hospital’s WeChat official account. It is reported that Chengdu Yihuan Medical, a service provider specializing in “Internet Plus Smart Hospitals,” will provide comprehensive support for this smart hospital initiative.

Internet + Smart Hospitals Enhance Patient Healthcare Experience

Li Yongzhi, Director of the Information Department at Beijing Aerospace General Hospital, stated, “Queueing for registration has long been a bottleneck in the hospital’s medical service process. Compared with other appointment methods, the WeChat Smart Hospital Service Platform allows patients to follow the official WeChat account of Beijing Aerospace General Hospital on their mobile phones to perform tasks such as appointment scheduling, payment, and report inquiries. The operation is simple and convenient, can be completed from anywhere, and spares patients the hardship of rushing around and waiting in lines during their hospital visits.”

In the past, patients indeed had to make multiple trips to the hospital for medical consultations, spending considerable time queuing and waiting each visit, which severely compromised healthcare efficiency. Today, patients enjoy greater convenience across various stages—including card registration, appointment scheduling, report collection, examination booking, follow-up visits, and payment—thereby reducing unnecessary wait times and the number of hospital visits. Furthermore, features such as waiting notifications and WeChat-based triage guidance enable patients to seek care with clear purpose and expectations.

Currently, Phase I of the Smart Hospital Platform on the WeChat Service Account of Beijing Aerospace General Hospital has been launched, primarily addressing the challenges patients face in securing appointments and enduring long queues. Patients can use WeChat to register for same-day or scheduled appointments and pay registration fees online. In subsequent phases, the platform will gradually roll out comprehensive digital healthcare services, including access to examination reports, online payment for laboratory tests and medications, and online consultations.

Through the convenient WeChat-based smart hospital access channel established by Yihuan Medical, patients have not only shortened their medical treatment processes but also improved their healthcare experience. The company has accumulated certain experience in building an "Internet + Smart Hospital" management service ecosystem that fully covers hospital workflows, business processes, and data flows, thereby enhancing the operational management level of hospitals.

According to VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat), Yihuan Medical’s “Internet + Smart Hospital” solution had previously been implemented in more than 60 hospitals across Southwest and North China, including renowned Grade A tertiary hospitals such as the Second and Fourth Affiliated Hospitals of Sichuan University West China Hospital and Chengdu First People’s Hospital. The official launch of the WeChat-based Smart Hospital at Beijing Aerospace General Hospital marks a further expansion of Yihuan Medical’s “Internet + Smart Hospital” footprint in the healthcare market, which will benefit an growing number of patients.
