Tech-Driven Startups Sweep Top Three at Xi'an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

Shaanxi Tiansen Pharmaceutical Research and Development Co., Ltd., established in 2000 with a registered capital of RMB 5 million, is a high-tech enterprise certified by the Xi’an Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, specializing in the research and development of pharmaceutical and chemical technologies. At this competition, the company launched the R&D project for its innovative anti-cancer drug “Pacticon” and won the championship. “Pacticon” is an innovative anti-cancer drug featuring a novel compound structure. Its core technology involves a prodrug derived from hydroxycamptothecin modified using internationally advanced polyethylene glycol (PEG)ylation technology, and it has been granted patent rights.

Currently, the project plans to add an investment of 16 million yuan, of which 8 million yuan will be raised through equity and debt financing.

Xi’an Buzzly Software Technology Co., Ltd. (Buzzly), located in the Tsinghua Science Park within the Xi’an High-Tech Industries Zone, specializes in the development and manufacturing of software and hardware solutions for public health and clinical medical care, with a focus on family health management. The company recently launched its NSIS Smart Nursing Solution at this competition, securing second place. This solution deeply analyzes the workflows and requirements across various nursing tasks. By leveraging event engines and business rule engines, it intelligently organizes and distributes nursing information, optimizes traditional manual documentation methods, and provides proactive alerts to nurses. This enables nurses to quickly access required information and, when integrated with IoT products, enhances the quality of nursing care at every stage.

The project is currently planning to complete its first round of financing.

The cloud recognition-based intelligent diabetic retinopathy screening fundus camera, launched by the Shaanxi Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center for Intelligent Measurement, Control, and Industrial Big Data Processing, won third place in this competition. Leveraging the center’s extensive research foundation and application experience in machine vision and intelligent detection, a screening and prevention system has been developed specifically for diabetic retinopathy (DR), a retinal disease caused by diabetes. Revenue is generated through the sale of non-mydriatic fundus cameras and paid services provided by the cloud-based intelligent DR screening system.

Currently, the angel round financing for this project is 6 million, with a valuation of 30 million.

Xi’an Taikormed Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. (Taikormed Consulting Ltd.) is a contract research organization (CRO) that provides specialized services for the development of pharmaceutical and health-related products both domestically and internationally. The company primarily offers clients services including registration and filing, new drug research and development, new drug technology transfer, and market research for various pharmaceutical products (including drugs, medical devices, and health foods), as well as nationwide academic promotion planning for various drugs, including active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

The project is currently seeking RMB 3 million in financing in exchange for a 10% equity stake.

Tongxin Pediatric Ophthalmologist Group was incubated by the Innovation Industry Cultivation Demonstration Base of Guanghua School of Management, Peking University. Established in October 2015 and affiliated with Xi’an Junqi Medical Technology Co., Ltd., it is China’s first physician group dedicated exclusively to pediatric ophthalmology. By establishing cloud-based internet studios and offline renowned-expert studios, the group connects pediatric ophthalmologists with patients, builds a comprehensive health big data platform, and thereby assists physicians in creating patient health records and implementing follow-up management, ultimately improving patients’ adherence to subsequent treatments.

The project is currently planning a pre-A financing round of RMB 5 million, offering 10% equity.

Ruiying Physician Group leverages team-based knowledge and technical support to build a Ruiying Technician Group equipped with both diagnostic and internet-driven mindsets, facilitating external connectivity with cloud platforms and hospitals with offline needs. It operates as a third-party institution integrating diagnostics, training, and human resource outsourcing. Currently, its primary focus is on grassroots hospitals and select private hospitals with weak diagnostic capabilities and imaging technologies.
