At the summit, “Smart Healthcare for Sustainable Development” and related technological innovations and application development emerged as key topics of discussion. As one of the leading global drivers and practitioners of smart healthcare, InterSystems shared best practices from around the world. Data richness, deep interoperability, high intelligence, and large-scale scalability constitute the critical technical requirements for building sustainable smart healthcare systems globally. In collaboration with its global partners, InterSystems has developed comprehensive “Smart Healthcare” solutions that serve more than 450 million patients across over 80 countries, enabling them to access high-value, efficient, and personalized healthcare services while fostering collaborative development among healthcare institutions worldwide.

Senior executives, including Steve Garrington, Vice President of International Business at InterSystems, and Christine Chapman, Vice President of TrakCare®, joined experts from leading Chinese medical institutions such as Xiangya Hospital, Anhui Provincial Hospital, Greenleaf Medical Group, and SinoUnited Health, as well as healthcare IT industry leaders like John Hoyt, Honorary Executive Vice President of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), to attend the summit. Together, they explored technological innovation and application development to advance the “interconnectivity” and “collaborative sharing” of healthcare information, benefiting a broader range of patients and healthcare professionals, and building a Chinese healthcare service system aimed at care coordination and tiered diagnosis and treatment.

Steve Garrington, Vice President of International Business at InterSystems, delivered a keynote address at the summit, analyzing the major challenges currently facing China’s healthcare system. “As a country with a large population and a major developing nation, China is confronting challenges such as population aging, a rising prevalence of chronic diseases, soaring healthcare costs, and pronounced imbalances between the supply and demand of medical services. In this context, the implementation of smart healthcare, built upon interconnected health information systems, has become particularly urgent,” he stated. “Optimizing the allocation of medical resources, enhancing their efficient utilization, alleviating the supply–demand imbalance, improving the quality of healthcare services, and fostering better doctor–patient relationships are all benefits that smart healthcare can bring to China’s healthcare system and its vast patient population.”

Experts from Chinese healthcare institutions further validated Steve Garrington’s views on information interoperability through their respective practices and experiences in the field of smart healthcare. As a key user of InterSystems in China, Xiangya Hospital shared its achievements in leveraging information interoperability to optimize hospital decision-making, enhance medical efficiency, and improve patient care experiences. Additionally, Leaf Healthcare and Shine Medical separately presented case studies on the application of electronic medical record (EMR) systems and clinical information systems (CIS) in high-end private hospitals and premium clinics, respectively.

Since entering the Chinese market in 2004, InterSystems has always regarded China as a key strategic market. As a global leader in healthcare information technology and the only internationally renowned company in the Chinese market focused on providing comprehensive solutions for the healthcare industry, InterSystems will continue to root itself in the Chinese market. By leveraging its healthcare information platforms and systems, which are widely recognized by hundreds of countries and thousands of medical institutions worldwide, InterSystems aims to serve China’s healthcare system as it progressively advances toward “smart healthcare.” The company is committed to promoting the interoperability and sharing of healthcare information, enhancing the operational capabilities, efficiency, and service quality of medical institutions at all levels in China, and ultimately benefiting both patients and healthcare professionals in the country.
