On October 14, the 2016 “West Lake Health” International Summit was grandly held at the Hangzhou International Conference Center. The event was hosted by the Organizing Committee of the Hangzhou West Lake International Expo and the Administrative Committee of Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, organized by Hangzhou Jianpei Technology Co., Ltd., and co-organized by the Zhejiang Health Information Society, Alibaba Cloud, the Chinese American Clinical Oncology Society (CACO), the Baihua Association, the Precision Health Management Branch of the China Pharmaceutical News and Information Association, Hangzhou Dianzi University, Firestone Creation, and VCBeat.
As one of the opening forums and the main forum for the medical sector of the 18th China Hangzhou West Lake International Expo, the event brought together more than 800 attendees, including academicians, scholars, and experts from the medical fields in the United States, Japan, India, and China, as well as IT specialists, healthcare entrepreneurs, media representatives, and government officials, to jointly explore the theme “Letting Technology Return to Healthcare Itself.”
During the event, Li Lanjuan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Health Department; He Lin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician of The World Academy of Sciences, and Chang Jiang Scholar Distinguished Professor; Mr. Hiroshi Fujita, Chairman of the Japanese Society for Medical Imaging and Information Sciences; Mr. David Flores, Chairman of BioCentury; Ms. Li Hong, Chief Architect of Alibaba Cloud Healthcare; and Mr. Cheng Guohua, CEO of GenPro Technology, participated in a roundtable discussion themed “Returning Technology to the Essence of Healthcare.”
In addition, the forum achieved two domestic firsts: one was the “Man vs. Machine Challenge,” where senior imaging diagnosis experts competed head-to-head with AI-powered image-reading robots on site, showcasing the cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies driven by big data; the other was a live China-U.S. connected multidisciplinary team (MDT) consultation, bringing together world-class cancer treatment experts to demonstrate the latest advancements in the treatment of various cancers.
As the main forum of the medical sector at the Hangzhou West Expo International Fair, the 2016 "West Lake Health Talk" International Summit aimed to "promote the development of medical technology through the deep integration of academia, healthcare, technology, and capital." The summit focused on discussing how IT technology can provide more effective technological support for challenges encountered in cancer treatment, AI-driven healthcare, big data healthcare, and healthcare information systems. This event marked another major international gathering in the field of healthcare hosted by Hangzhou following the G20 Summit.
