The Launch of Ningxia Internet Hospital WillBringing Internet Medical Services to 6.7 Million Residents

The Ningxia Internet Hospital is an internet healthcare platform jointly established by WeDoctor and the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University, with support from the People’s Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Yinchuan City, and Helan County. This collaboration was launched in response to the national “Belt and Road” Initiative and to advance the “Healthy Ningxia” project.

Located in the inland northwest, Ningxia faces a relative shortage of high-quality medical resources, with poverty caused or exacerbated by illness still prevalent in areas such as Xihaigu. To provide convenient medical services to residents across the region, WeDoctor and General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University—a leading Grade A tertiary hospital in northwest China—jointly established the Ningxia Internet Hospital on the first anniversary of the Wuzhen Internet Hospital. By integrating the online and offline strengths of both WeDoctor and General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University, and prioritizing implementation in Helan County, this initiative enables residents of Ningxia to access high-quality medical services from across China without leaving their homes.

Liao Jieyuan introduced that the 240,000 experts, 7,200 expert teams, and eight remote consultation centers accumulated on the WeDoctor platform have all been integrated into the Ningxia Internet Hospital, establishing a network of expert and physician resources connecting Ningxia with the rest of China. The Ningxia Internet Hospital will facilitate data interoperability among medical institutions across the Ningxia region, providing continuous and proactive family doctor services based on electronic health records and health cloud cards to the 6.7 million residents of Ningxia. Additionally, leveraging economies of scale, the Ningxia Internet Hospital will enable reverse customization of pharmaceuticals, streamline intermediate distribution links, and reduce medication costs for the public.

Ningxia Internet Hospital will facilitate the decentralization of high-quality medical resources from Zhejiang and Ningxia to municipal-, county-, township-, and village-level medical institutions, thereby establishing a six-tier hierarchical diagnosis and treatment assistance system spanning Zhejiang, Ningxia, municipalities, counties, townships, and villages.Enhancing the medical service capabilities of healthcare institutions at all levels in the Autonomous Region through precise, targeted assistance via both online and offline channels, thereby further deepening East-West collaboration and exchanges between Ningxia and Zhejiang.
