Signing Ceremony Between Haiyihui and Weitang

On December 21, 2016, Haiyihui Wangjing Boya Clinic, established by Sino-Ocean Health Investment Management (Beijing) Co., Ltd. under Sino-Ocean Group, formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement with WeTang, China’s largest diabetes management platform, to bring superior blood glucose management solutions to patients. The signing ceremony also marked the official unveiling of the Beijing Blood Glucose Management Center.

On that day, Su Xiaohu, General Manager of Sino-Ocean Health Medical Investment Management (Beijing) Co., Ltd.; Zhou Yi, General Manager of Beijing Sino-Ocean Health Boya Clinic Co., Ltd.; Zhao Ying, Deputy General Manager of the same clinic; Feng Yanfei, CEO of WeTang; and Huang Dacheng, President of Medical Services at WeTang, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.

WeiTang is a digital healthcare group dedicated to digital disease management solutions. Currently, WeiTang focuses on diabetes care, specializing in services related to blood glucose health. Leveraging a robust internet-based information management platform, WeiTang opened its first self-operated offline service center in Shanghai in September 2016, integrating online and offline resources to provide patients with more convenient, comprehensive, and innovative whole-course diabetes management services.

After six months of service validation, the program has garnered widespread acclaim from users. To bring superior blood glucose management solutions directly to patients, a consensus was reached with Haiyihui to establish a physical medical service facility—the Beijing Blood Glucose Management Center—at the Haiyihui Wangjing Boya Clinic.

Patient-Centered Care

It is well known that difficulty in accessing medical care is a major issue for clinical visits in China. Due to the extremely limited communication time with physicians, patients with diabetes manage their blood glucose on their own for more than 90% of the time. The lack of disease-related health education, poor medication adherence, and the inability to establish healthy lifestyle habits constitute three major burdens weighing on patients. Consequently, 70% of diabetic patients in China fail to achieve target blood glucose levels, leaving diabetes prevention and control in an awkward situation characterized by a large patient population, low rates of glycemic control, and high incidence of complications.

WeiTang has accumulated over 2 million registered users online, fully recognizing that patients’ greatest desire is to achieve stable blood glucose levels and prevent severe complications. Haiyihui, a renowned medical brand under Sino-Ocean Group dedicated to health services, has consistently upheld the philosophy of being “patient-centered” and providing trustworthy, high-quality medical care internally. Externally, it has broadened its horizons by continuously seeking premium medical resources worldwide to enrich and refine its product portfolio and service offerings. The strategic partnership between WeiTang and Haiyihui, spanning from online to offline channels, aims to help patients achieve stable blood glucose control and return to a relaxed lifestyle. Ms. Feng Yanfei, Founder and CEO of WeiTang, stated, “After three years of development, the WeiTang APP has achieved service standardization, serving as a comprehensive management platform facilitating interaction among diabetic patients, experienced individuals with diabetes, doctors, dietitians, nurses, and other stakeholders. The opening of our service center now enables us to provide services that cannot be delivered online, such as screening for diabetic complications, trial use of medical wearable devices (including internationally leading insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors), and interpretation of complication risk assessment reports, thereby creating a closed-loop service ecosystem.”

A representative from Haiyi Hui stated in an interview, “As a well-known brand under Sino-Ocean Group dedicated to the healthcare sector, Haiyi Hui adheres to a ‘patient-centered’ approach internally, delivering high-quality and trustworthy medical services. Externally, it seeks and attracts premium medical projects and product models globally to enhance and expand the clinical capacity of its clinics, thereby making healthcare more accessible to the general public.”

Pioneering the Launch of Complication Risk Assessment Reports and Interpretation Services

When personalized medicine is mentioned, most people think of targeted cancer therapies. However, diabetes is also a condition that requires personalized treatment. The WeTang Diabetes Service Center provides personalized, comprehensive management of blood glucose and health indicators for individuals with diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, LADA) and those at high risk (prediabetes, overweight/obese populations). Notably, WeTang offers patients diabetic complication risk assessment reports. Leveraging big data analytics, its risk engine calculates the five-year risk of severe complications, including coronary heart disease, stroke, heart failure, and renal failure, in diabetic patients.

According to Mr. Huang Dacheng, President of WeTang Medical Services: “The American Diabetes Association and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes jointly recommend that individuals with diabetes undergo a comprehensive diabetes risk assessment every 12–18 months. Following years of clinical trials in Hong Kong, WeTang has now taken the lead in introducing this diabetes risk assessment protocol to mainland China. WeTang’s risk assessment engine meets the diabetes care standards established by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). Based on the assessment results, patients can understand their risks for various complications and develop appropriate treatment plans. Through an interdisciplinary medical team, treatment regimens are adjusted and patients are assisted in modifying their lifestyle habits, thereby helping high-risk populations and individuals with diabetes reduce the likelihood of future disease onset or complications.”

Strategic Alliance: Professional Team Safeguarding Your Success

Behind advanced treatment protocols lies the dedicated effort of a professional healthcare team. Tailoring care to each patient’s individual condition, Weitang’s specialized medical “glucose control” team provides customized treatment “packages”: specialist physicians devise therapeutic regimens; education nurses deliver diabetes education, conduct routine follow-ups, and address disease-related concerns; and registered dietitians design personalized dietary plans and exercise programs. Together, they implement a comprehensive, multi-pronged strategy for stable glucose management, encompassing pharmacological therapy, health education, and lifestyle interventions.

Dr. Zhou Zhenzhong, Chief Medical Officer at WeTang, Director of the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes and Head of the Department of Medicine at Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong, and Honorary Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, emphasized: “Education is the cornerstone of diabetes treatment. On this basis, reliance on pharmacological therapy alone is insufficient; patients require comprehensive guidance and support in various aspects of daily life, including dietary planning, exercise regimens, and emotional management. Data show that, compared with conventional treatment approaches, the WeTang systematic management program significantly reduces the risk of kidney disease and severe complications in patients with type 2 diabetes.”

Ms. Feng Yanfei, Founder and CEO of WeTang, emphasized: “The opening of WeTang’s first service center completes the closed loop of our online and offline services. Our service model has been thoroughly validated in Shanghai. In the future, WeTang Service Centers will expand to major and medium-sized cities across China, aiming to provide targeted services to a broader range of diabetes patients. The Beijing Blood Glucose Management Center, established in collaboration with Sino-Ocean Health, offers medication and prescription services, truly delivering comprehensive, one-stop solutions.” WeTang aims to establish WeTang Clinics and WeTang Service Centers in provincial capital cities nationwide through self-operated or cooperative models, building a world-leading medical team to provide top-tier healthcare services to chronic disease patients in China.
