Hong Kong Gleneagles Hospital, scheduled to open in early 2017, is the first new large-scale private general hospital to launch in Hong Kong in two decades. Integrating specialized medical services with teaching functions, the hospital currently employs over 1,400 medical staff, including more than 500 newly recruited nurses, bringing significant changes to Hong Kong’s employment landscape and healthcare environment. Hong Kong Gleneagles Hospital is a joint venture by Parkway Pantai, one of Asia’s largest private healthcare groups; the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine at The University of Hong Kong; and NWS Holdings.
Parkway MediCentre’s services span across Asia. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of IHH Healthcare Group, it holds a leading position in Singapore, Malaysia, India, China, and Hong Kong. NWS Holdings Limited, the infrastructure and services flagship of the listed company New World Development Company Limited, operates across sectors including roads, environment, energy, logistics, aviation, and healthcare. It is also the second-largest shareholder of Beijing Capital International Airport. Its current Chief Executive Officer is Stephen Tsang Shing-pei, the younger brother of Donald Tsang, former Chief Executive of Hong Kong.
Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong’s clinical partner is the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine at The University of Hong Kong (formerly the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese), the oldest tertiary education institution in Hong Kong. Dr. Sun Yat-sen was a member of its inaugural graduating class. After more than a century of development, the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine now boasts over 400 full-time faculty members and 800 research and related staff, with approximately 2,900 undergraduate students and 1,500 postgraduate students. In addition to its 14 academic departments, the Faculty houses multiple centers dedicated to various research fields.
Backed by strong investment and authoritative, professional partners, Gleneagles Hong Kong Hospital has introduced advanced and comprehensive facilities. Upon opening, the hospital will cover 35 specialties and subspecialties, with dedicated medical professionals on standby around the clock, striving to meet diverse healthcare needs under one roof.
Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong will launch a new healthcare model, actively expanding into the mainland China market.
