(Shanghai, China, February 13, 2017) Eli Lilly China, Tencent, and DXY announced an industry-exclusive strategic partnership in the field of diabetes to jointly develop and launch a diabetes care and support initiative—the “Eli Lilly Diabetes Care Excellence Program.”

This project aims to enable physicians and patients to better manage diabetes and achieve treatment goals through internet-based technologies, disease education, and services. It will provide patients with advanced blood glucose monitoring devices, educational tools, and professional patient care services, while delivering real-time, precise patient data to physicians and patients’ family members and friends. This collaborative model is the first of its kind in China and unprecedented in scale, pioneering a new diabetes management paradigm forged by a strategic alliance among multinational pharmaceutical companies, internet firms, and physician academic service platforms.

Diabetes is a major global public health issue that has imposed substantial physiological and economic burdens on patients, their families, local governments, and communities.China currently has over 110 million patients with diabetes, accounting for nearly 10% of the total adult population. This figure is projected to increase by 30% over the next 20 years.Among these diagnosed and treated patients, fewer than one-third of those with diabetes achieved target blood glucose levels. Blood glucose monitoring and the proper use of insulin are crucial in blood glucose control and disease management.

Within the current healthcare system, physicians undoubtedly play the most critical role in advancing patient education. This project provides physicians with more convenient and rapid access to data, thereby facilitating improved patient disease management.

In the field of public health, DXY also provides mass consumers with rich digital platforms and health-related content, having amassed tens of millions of users. Meanwhile, DXY’s offline clinics have been established in Hangzhou and Fuzhou, with plans to expand into more cities.
