On February 22, VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned that the strategic cooperation signing ceremony between WeDoctor Beilian and Hemei Healthcare was held in Beijing. At the ceremony, WeDoctor Beilian, the operator of China’s national internet-based maternal and child health platform, announced its latest strategy for the first time: to build a closed-loop online-to-offline ecosystem for maternal and child health, providing users with one-stop health services throughout the entire cycle of pregnancy, childbirth, and child-rearing. As part of this initiative, WeDoctor Beilian signed a strategic agreement with Hemei Healthcare Holdings Limited, China’s largest chain operator of women’s and children’s hospitals. As a strategic partner, Hemei Healthcare will collaborate with WeDoctor Beilian to advance the aforementioned strategic layout. This signing marks a comprehensive business upgrade following the launch of the national internet-based maternal and child health platform at the Great Hall of the People on February 19 last year.

As outlined in the strategic cooperation agreement, Weiyi Beilian will leverage the advantages of its internet-based maternal and child health platform to accurately develop user profiles and collaborate with offline medical institutions within Hemei Women’s and Children’s Hospital’s strongholds. By complementing each other’s strengths, both parties will jointly design and operate service products covering the entire cycle of pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare, providing users with an integrated one-stop health service solution that combines online and offline resources.

WeDoctor Beilian is the largest maternal and child health service platform in China, holding the country’s only internet license for a women’s and children’s hospital. It has established Hos-WiFi network service partnerships with 1,500 women’s and children’s hospitals across 382 cities in China, covering an annual total outpatient volume of 350 million visits. Within one year, WeDoctor Beilian integrated the national expert resources from WeDoctor’s maternal and child health segment with Beilian’s capability to deeply connect with hospitals. Currently, it boasts over 60 million registered real-name users in the women’s and children’s sector, provides online consultation services with 10,000 obstetricians, gynecologists, and pediatricians, and has contracted 40,000 specialists in these fields. Cumulative medical service utilization in obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics has exceeded 200 million visits.

Hemei Medical Holdings Co., Ltd. is the first obstetrics and gynecology hospital group listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in China, specializing in medical investment, hospital management, and healthcare brand operations. It controls the largest private chain of women’s and children’s hospitals in China. With more than ten physical hospitals in core cities such as Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou, the group operates in accordance with the internationally recognized JCI standards and holds a leading position in the mid-to-high-end maternal and child healthcare market.

At the signing ceremony, Hemei Hospital became a “Strategic Member Unit of the WeDoctor Internet Women’s and Children’s Hospital Platform,” gaining shared access to the expert and team resources owned by WeDoctor Beilian. Building on this foundation, WeDoctor Beilian leveraged WeDoctor’s independently developed internet hospital platform—capable of supporting large-scale concurrent interactions—to develop online products and service packages for its internet women’s and children’s hospital. Following the establishment of this partnership, both parties will precisely target user data to deliver tailored internet-based maternal and child healthcare products and services.

It has been reported that the two parties will jointly invest in, operate, and manage the newly established women’s and children’s hospital. Previously, WeDoctor Beilian established “China Women’s and Children’s Hospital Chain Management Co., Ltd.,” which has attracted numerous deans and management teams from renowned domestic women’s and children’s hospitals to join, and has pioneered a scalable chain development and management model for such institutions. In subsequent collaborative efforts to co-establish hospital campuses, this model will be gradually piloted and promoted, with deans or medical directors appointed from among leading experts and hospital administrators from prominent women’s and children’s hospitals across China.

At the signing ceremony, Lin Yuming, Chairman of Hemei Medical, stated that Weiyi Beilian’s professional capabilities in operating internet hospitals and its nationwide pool of online expert resources, combined with Hemei Medical’s strong capacity to deliver high-quality offline medical services, have effectively given offline medical institutions “wings.” The organic integration of their complementary advantages is poised to create greater possibilities in the field of maternal and child health services, providing users with a higher-quality and more convenient healthcare experience.

It is reported that in October 2016, WeDoctor made a strategic investment in Beilian and completed its rebranding. Over the following year, WeDoctor Beilian spearheaded the establishment of China’s largest internet-based medical consortium for maternal and child health, with its initial members comprising 16 provincial-level maternal and child health hospitals across the country, including Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital and Henan Provincial Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital. According to Li Fan, Senior Vice President of WeDoctor and General Manager of WeDoctor Beilian, this strategy focuses on collaborative partnerships with public Grade A tertiary hospitals and high-quality private maternal and child health hospitals to jointly develop innovative solutions for maternal and child health services.

“WeDoctor Beilian represents WeDoctor’s focused, in-depth operational initiative, while the partnership with Hemei Medical Group marks a deepening of WeDoctor Beilian’s vertical platform strategy for maternal and child health,” said Liao Jieyuan, Founder of WeDoctor and Co-Chairman of WeDoctor Beilian. “The Internet Maternal and Child Hospital is an open platform. By collaborating with and complementing high-quality offline professional healthcare institutions, it can break through bottlenecks in user acquisition and medical resource access for both parties, rapidly establish an online-offline closed loop and enable scalable replication, thereby creating a new ecosystem for maternal and child health services.”
