According to VCBeat, Xiaolu Clinic recently completed its Series B financing round. The investors included Redpoint Ventures and Sinovation Ventures, with existing Series A investors IDG Capital and Morningside Venture Capital continuing to participate. The funding amount reached nearly RMB 100 million.
Xiaolu Clinic was founded in January 2016, specializing in internet-based TCM telemedicine. Founder Zhang Kuo is the former Chief Scientist of Sogou’s Search Division, and co-founder Liu Xinyue previously served as Vice President of Haodf Online. Leveraging the team’s technological strengths and industry expertise, Xiaolu Clinic explores the digital transformation of traditional Chinese medicine, striving to become “your accessible expert in TCM wellness.”
The State Council issued the Outline of the Strategic Plan for the Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (2016–2030), which explicitly states, “Promote ‘Internet + TCM Healthcare’ and vigorously develop new healthcare service models such as TCM telemedicine, mobile healthcare, and smart healthcare.” Industry analysts believe that TCM diagnosis primarily relies on physicians themselves, with relatively low dependence on Western medical diagnostic equipment, thereby providing the most critical condition for establishing a closed-loop telemedicine system.
Driven by policy support and leveraging the team’s technical expertise, Xiaolu Clinic has built the most professional remote TCM consultation service platform. Compared with other TCM initiatives, Xiaolu Clinic’s key differentiator lies in its heavy emphasis on consultations, featuring highly qualified physicians and a rigorous diagnostic and treatment process.
According to VCBeat, the Xiaolu TCM Clinic platform currently hosts thousands of physicians, 80% of whom are from Grade A tertiary hospitals in China, with the majority holding chief or associate chief physician titles. The platform covers 16 major TCM specialties, catering to the diverse needs of patients. Furthermore, Xiaolu TCM Clinic maintains strict quality control over herbal materials, recognizing that the efficacy of the same herb can vary significantly depending on its origin and processing methods. By partnering with multiple high-quality herbal suppliers and SF Express, Xiaolu TCM Clinic ensures that the finest medicines are delivered to patients as quickly as possible.
“We believe that patients should see good doctors. Only with competent physicians and professional consultations can doctor-patient communication be effective. Therefore, we maintain high standards for our doctors,” said Zhang Kuo, CEO. Xiao Lu Clinic aims to streamline and simplify the online consultation process. Following its Series B financing round, Xiao Lu Clinic will increase its investment in technology and explore applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare, thereby reaching more households and alleviating the difficulty many patients face in accessing medical care.
