VCBeat has learned the news at the earliest opportunity,Miao Jiankang, a mobile health management platform, recently completed a RMB 250 million Series B financing round, jointly invested by CITIC Capital and ABC Wuxi Fund.

Miao Health, a health behavior management platform launched by Beijing Miaoyijia Information Technology Co., Ltd. and affiliated with the [Big Health] strategic sector of Sanpower Group, is committed to building an integrated comprehensive health management platform that combines health data collection, health behavior intervention, and value-added health services.

“Miao Health” has entered into in-depth cooperation within the health industry chain with “An Kang Tong,” Sanpower Group’s smart home-based elderly care platform, and “Natali,” its medical nursing service company, assisting them in building structured and integrated data platforms. Leveraging its strengths in health behavior management, Miao Health is collaborating with other enterprises under Sanpower Group to jointly establish Sanpower’s strategic layout in the healthcare sector.

In April 2016, Miao Health completed its RMB 100 million Series A financing round, led by Ronghui Capital under the Sunshine Insurance Group. On June 22, 2016, Miao Health announced the launch of the “MORE ECO” (also known as the Miao Planet Initiative), a strategic initiative to build an ecological chain for the big health industry.

Kong Fei, CEO of Miao Health, stated, “With the advent of the mobile internet era, health management is transitioning from the ‘Health Education’ 1.0 era to the Health Management 2.0 era, underpinned by big data and artificial intelligence.”

Last July,More Health JointThe Chinese Health Promotion and Education Association, in collaboration with Archimedes Medical, jointly launched the “Health Big Data X Plan: Health Behavior Promotion Project” in Beijing. The concept of the “Health Behavior Index”—the “M Value” (More Health Behavior Score)—emerged as one of the novel outcomes of this conference.

Miao Health collects users’ health-related behaviors through its mobile application and evaluates them using specific algorithms to generate scores that assess whether these behaviors promote physical health or their degree of benefit to health.

In simple terms, user health-related behaviors are categorized into six dimensions: health responsibility, self-actualization, nutrition, interpersonal relationships, stress management, and physical activity. These categories are adjusted based on the characteristics of mobile data collection to ensure objective and accurate assessment. Furthermore, algorithms are employed to convert these metrics into a Daily Health Behavior Index for each user.

With quantifiable standards, users can intuitively monitor their health behaviors on a daily basis. Completing health-promoting activities or actions each day increases the M-value; a higher M-value indicates healthier behavior. Consistently engaging in daily health-promoting activities and completing the health tasks prompted by the app will help users achieve the target M-value. Over time, this guidance fosters the development of healthy habits, effectively improving users' overall health status.

In terms of business model, Miao Health adopts a B2B2C approach. It engages enterprise clients such as insurance companies, health checkup centers, and banks to help them retain users while providing these enterprises’ customers with high-quality health behavior management services. The services Miao Health offers to insurers and health checkup institutions come in two forms: one is service integration, and the other is developing customized health management apps and undertaking their operational management.

Following this round of financing, Miao Health will accelerate product R&D and industrial layout: at the product level, it will speed up the development of its open health data platform [Miao+】The number of connected smart hardware devices and the output capabilities of the Miao+ SDK; optimize and refine the algorithm for its proprietary Health Behavior Index (M-Value).

At the level of industrial layout, accelerate synergy with Sanpower Group’s resources in retail, elderly care, and other sectors by integrating Miao Health’s dedicated zones into Sanpower Group’s offline channels. Continue to uphold the established B2B2C business model, targeting insurance companies, employee benefits outsourcing platforms, and membership-based enterprises as primary expansion targets, thereby providing high-quality health behavior management services to end users served by these B-side clients.
