On April 18, the large-scale public welfare campaign “Chronic Disease Management for a Healthy China,” guided by the National Health and Family Planning Commission and jointly organized by Health News and YiZhiTong Mobile Healthcare Group, was held in Beijing. VCBeat was invited to attend the event. At the conference, Li Hao, founder of YiZhiTong, announced the establishment of the YiZhiTong Internet Hospital and the formation of the “Hu Dayi Doctor Group” in collaboration with Hu Dayi, a renowned Chinese cardiovascular expert and medical educator. Hu Dayi will serve as the President of YiZhiTong Internet Hospital, while Li Hao will assume the role of Chairman of the Hu Dayi Doctor Group.

EZTCN (China’s Online Tier-3 Hospitals), founded in 2009, is China’s first integrated operator and service provider of “smart healthcare” and the country’s first unified platform for end-to-end appointment registration. It is currently a nationwide medical access platform promoted by the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) and the only online appointment registration platform in China with official certification from the NHFPC. EZTCN currently offers six appointment registration channels: its official website (www.eztcn.com), a mobile app, a unified telephone platform, the television channel “EZTV EZTCN Channel,” self-service kiosks (located in communities and hospitals), and WeChat, making it the platform with the most diverse appointment registration channels nationwide.

Yi Zhi Tong has transcended its initial model of simple appointment registration to become a comprehensive health management service platform integrating medical appointment scheduling, health management, health consultation, information exchange, and doctor-patient interaction. It provides targeted, personalized health solutions tailored to users’ individual needs and usage habits. In addition to establishing the Cardiovascular Physicians Group with Hu Dayi, Yi Zhi Tong has also collaborated with dozens of leading specialists in dermatology, including renowned experts such as Professors Zhu Xuejun, Zhang Jianzhong, and Ma Lin, to form the largest dermatology physicians group in China.

According to the latest statistical data from the National Health and Family Planning Commission, China currently has over 290 million patients with chronic diseases, and deaths caused by chronic diseases account for approximately 85% of all deaths. Chronic diseases are increasingly threatening the health of the Chinese population, with the age of onset becoming progressively younger. Among these, patients with cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and coronary heart disease constitute the vast majority of all chronic disease cases.

Professor Hu Dayi, a Distinguished Expert with Outstanding Contributions in Beijing and Director of the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases at Capital Medical University, has long been dedicated to cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation. He advocates against overmedicalization and promotes the “Five Prescriptions,” having received numerous national and provincial/ministerial-level awards for scientific and technological progress. At the age of 71, he has taken up the mantle of leading China’s largest internet hospital for cardiovascular care, remaining steadfast on the front lines of cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment in China.

Supporting the Implementation of National Tiered Diagnosis and Treatment Pilot Programs

To address the health challenges posed by chronic diseases in China, the Organizing Committee will establish the “Healthy China Tour for Chronic Disease Management” charitable public welfare team, launch a RMB 50 million medical assistance fund, and bring together the nation’s top cardiovascular expert teams to provide support to numerous cardiovascular patients in impoverished rural areas, thereby helping more underserved grassroots populations gain access to medical care.

The “Chronic Disease Management: Healthy China Tour” initiative, personally led by Professor Hu Dayi, Dean-in-Chief of Yizhitong Internet Hospital and Co-Founder of the Dr. Hu Dayi Medical Group, and Mr. Li Hao, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yizhitong, mobilized hundreds of cardiovascular specialists from 48 key Grade-A tertiary hospitals across China. The team ventured into grassroots communities to facilitate the downward allocation of expert resources and establish a green channel connecting local residents with specialist consultations.

Centered on public welfare initiatives for chronic diseases, the event saw the joint establishment of a RMB 50 million medical assistance fund in collaboration with manufacturers of mobile smart wearable devices and renowned pharmaceutical companies. The fund supports a six-month program providing free cardiovascular consultations by experts and training services for primary care physicians. Leveraging eight years of technological expertise from YiZhiTong and the specialist resources of Dr. Hu Dayi’s Medical Group, preliminary intelligent upgrades were implemented in over 3,000 township and community hospitals, enabling patients in remote areas to access expert care from tertiary Grade A hospitals.

The campaign departed from Beijing, passing through Tianjin, Hebei, Henan, Guizhou, and Guangzhou, covering a distance of over 13,000 kilometers, before culminating at the 2017 “Internet+ Healthy China” Conference in Beijing. Eighty years ago, the Red Army advanced like an iron torrent, crossing turbulent rivers, scaling snow-capped mountains, and traversing grasslands, marching tens of thousands of li to complete the Long March, which astonished the world. Today, the cardiovascular expert team of the “Chronic Disease Management for a Healthy China” initiative remains true to its original aspiration, following in the footsteps of their predecessors by traveling across northern, southern, and western regions of China to accomplish a monumental feat akin to the Long March in the era of mobile healthcare.

During the "Healthy China Tour for Chronic Diseases" campaign, Dr. Hu Dayi’s Medical Group will leverage internet-based technologies—including cloud-based sharing of electronic medical records, remote high-definition video and audio consultations, and wearable smart devices—to facilitate direct remote consultations between doctors and patients. Patients can receive a comprehensive range of medical services from cardiovascular specialists at Grade A tertiary hospitals, such as condition diagnosis, prescription issuance, and online medical advice, at clinics near their homes without the need for face-to-face visits with the specialists. This approach eliminates the burdens of long-distance travel and queuing for registration.

Leveraging health big data, the "Healthy China Initiative for Chronic Disease Management" is dedicated to exploring and implementing pathways that integrate chronic disease prevention and control with the Internet. In the foreseeable future, with the continued advancement of the national tiered diagnosis and treatment system and the rapid development of Dr. Hu Dayi’s Physician Group, the goal of ensuring that major illnesses are treated within county-level facilities while minor ailments are managed at the village level will be basically achieved.
