Recently, Shanghai Ruijin Hospital’s official WeChat account launched an online intelligent triage feature. Patients can quickly access services such as appointment registration, disease-related health education, and laboratory test reports by simply entering keywords like “registration,” a doctor’s name, or a disease name on the account’s page.

Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (hereinafter referred to as “Shanghai Ruijin Hospital”), is a nationally renowned Grade A tertiary hospital. Its official WeChat public account has a massive subscriber base, and the WeChat backend receives a large volume of patient inquiries every day. However, as the WeChat public account platform lacks functionalities such as patient classification management, information search, and instant response tailored for healthcare institutions, medical staff managing the backend face excessive pressure from having to respond to these inquiries individually.
To address the urgent need for healthcare institutions such as Ruijin Hospital to manage their WeChat official accounts, Tencent’s Tengai Doctor has launched an intelligent triage feature designed for WeChat official accounts. With this feature enabled, users who open the Shanghai Ruijin Hospital’s WeChat official account page can simply type “registration” in the chat box to access detailed online registration guidelines. To check a physician’s consultation schedule and appointment availability, users need only enter the doctor’s name. For patients seeking preliminary information about specific medical conditions, typing the name of a disease, such as “asthma,” will provide access to relevant professional health education articles and information on the appropriate department for consultation. Additionally, patients can type “test reports” and, after linking their Ruijin Hospital patient service account and logging in, view their laboratory test results, scheduled examination records, medication pickup slips, and other related information.

It is understood that the intelligent triage feature on WeChat Official Accounts is powered by Tencent’s Tengai Doctor, leveraging its WeChat intelligent search capabilities. Tengai Doctor provides professional medical institutions with convenient internet-based management tools, helping hospitals and physicians efficiently manage their Official Accounts. Currently, this feature has enabled information management and patient service functionalities for nearly 1,000 professional medical WeChat Official Accounts. This not only reduces physicians’ workload and improves efficiency but also facilitates patients’ access to professional medical information.
