Primary care represents the most vulnerable segment of China’s healthcare system. Despite its large population base, it suffers from a severe shortage of essential resources, including medical infrastructure, healthcare professionals, and equipment. Consequently, primary healthcare has become an urgent priority for improvement and a key focus of national reinforcement efforts. Under the overarching “Healthy China 2030” strategy, strengthening primary healthcare is of paramount importance.

Currently, primary healthcare remains a hot topic. In this group interview session, we will explore the primary healthcare sector. We have invited Mr. Luo Ningzheng, Founder and CEO of Juyi160, to discuss how to empower primary healthcare.

In an era of fierce competition within the internet healthcare industry, JiuYi160 stood out from tens of thousands of competitors. During the 2003 SARS outbreak, it developed the Blue Dragonfly hospital infection control software to monitor infectious diseases in domestic hospitals, acquiring thousands of hospital users and laying a critical foundation for its subsequent expansion into mobile healthcare. In 2009, the Ministry of Health issued the “Opinions on Implementing Appointment-Based Diagnosis and Treatment Services in Public Hospitals,” mandating that all public tertiary hospitals implement real-name appointment registration services and allowing cooperation with third-party intermediaries to facilitate such appointments.

With the continuous relaxation of policies, the Jiuyi 160 platform has, to date, integrated more than 3,000 large hospitals across China. The platform boasts over 100 million registered users and approximately 500,000 registered physicians, with user engagement exceeding 300 million visits.

Luo Ningzheng stated that within the current strategic framework of 160.com, community health centers, hospitals, and pharmacies constitute the core business segments, which also serve as the primary sources of revenue. These include: first, online hospital services represented by end-to-end hospital operations; second, a tiered diagnosis and treatment platform; and third, online community health services.

In 2017, Jiuyi160 will also focus on expanding its presence in primary healthcare.
