As internet hospitals sprang up across China, Hubei Province welcomed its first internet hospital.


VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) reported that on April 27, the licensing ceremony was held for Hubei Provincial Internet Hospital, the first internet hospital in Hubei Province. The platform was jointly established by Ali Health and Wuhan Central Hospital, with participation from companies including Jointown Pharmaceutical Group, Taikang Insurance, and Wanli Cloud.

 

The collaboration between Wuhan Central Hospital and AliHealth began in 2015, when Wuhan Central Hospital already joined the “Online Hospital”。

 

Since January 2016, both parties have begun to establish a telemedicine system including remote video consultations and imaging centers, and provide services to the Honghu City area through remote video methods.Provide Online Health Consultation Services to Residents in Rural Areas with Village Taobao Service Stations

 

Local villagers can have face-to-face video consultations with doctors from Wuhan Central Hospital and receive remote medical services by paying only the standard registration fee, while"Jiuzhoutong assumed responsibility for the subsequent delivery of pharmaceuticals to rural areas.", to some extent, alleviating the problem of inadequate medical resources and drug shortages in rural areas.

 

After the establishment of Hubei Internet Hospital, it will collaborate with institutions including Xinzhou District People's Hospital,56 Medical Consortium Member Institutions, we continue to invest in and develop online medical services, online health guidance services, and online tiered diagnosis and treatment. The specific business directions include:

 

  • Online medical services aimed at meeting the follow-up consultation needs of patients with chronic diseases, thereby reducing the time and transportation costs associated with seeking medical care;

  • An extended electronic prescription service, based on historical medical records and electronic health records (EHRs), with home delivery provided by third-party enterprises qualified for pharmaceutical distribution.

  • Build a provincial-level tiered diagnosis and treatment system, centered on the Wuhan Central Hospital Medical Consortium and "Cuntao" (Village Taobao), to conduct inter-institutional remote joint outpatient services, remote consultations, and online appointment-based referrals.

Zhang Liang, Vice President of Alibaba Health, also stated that over the past year, Alibaba Health has collaborated with Wuhan Central Hospital to extend pharmaceutical and healthcare services across Hubei Province, including remote areas, by leveraging online and offline channels such as Tmall Pharmacy and Rural Taobao, thereby establishing a tiered diagnosis and treatment system. Looking ahead, the company will continue to leverage “Internet + Healthcare” to further reduce costs for hospitals and patients, supporting national healthcare reform.
