On June 16, VCBeat (WeChat Official Account: vcbeat) learned that Xiaoqu Hao Hushi, the nurse service platform under QuYiYuan.com (quyiyuan.com),(haohushi.me) announced the completion of its RMB 64 million Series A financing round, led by Kyeegroup, with participation from SoftBank China Venture Capital (SBCVC), HighLight Capital, and DYEE Capital.

Xiaoqu Good Nurse is a project incubated internally by Quyi.com and operated independently, specializing in mobile internet-based medical consultation and accompaniment services. It has become a well-known platform for nursing services.

Data shows that Xiaoqu Good Nurse was established in late 2015, with its first version of the APP launched in March 2016. Its main business relies on professional nurses to provide services such as nurse accompaniment for medical visits, home care, and treatment companionship through mobile APPs and WeChat service accounts, based on the O2O model. After more than a year of operation and development, the current product already covers a full range of patient-centered services, including online nurse consultations, nurse accompaniment for medical visits, home care, treatment companionship, appointment registration, symptom self-checking, and health information.

According to official disclosures, the platform currently hosts nearly 10,000 nurses, all of whom are either licensed nurses or nursing students. Nurse-related services are available in 35 cities across China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, covering nearly 2,000 public hospitals, with plans to expand to 70 cities by the end of the year. Meanwhile, Xiaoqu Hao Hushi has established partnerships with platforms such as Baidu Maps, 58 Daojia, Quyi Network, 39 Health, and Guilin Bank.

Nursing Services Unlock the Large Mobile Health Market

Data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that China’s population aged 60 and above was 212 million in 2014, reaching 222 million in 2015, an increase of 10 million. The relaxation of the two-child policy led to a rise in the number of pregnant women and infants; the total number of live births in 2016 exceeded 17.86 million, an increase of 1.31 million compared with 2015. In 2015, pediatric outpatient and emergency visits totaled 540 million, accounting for 9.6% of all outpatient and emergency visits.

The elderly population has greater demand for health and elderly care services, encompassing both medical consultations and nursing care provided in community and home settings. The growing number of elderly individuals and infants has expanded market demand, creating opportunities for healthcare services.

Zhang Zhenhua, CEO of Quhu Network, stated that more than a year after its launch, the registered user base of Xiaoqu Good Nurse has exceeded 500,000. Initially, orders on the Xiaoqu Good Nurse platform were primarily for general medical accompaniment. With product upgrades, enhancements, and continuous optimization, and based on user needs and feedback, the platform introduced specialized medical accompaniment services tailored to different groups, including accompaniment for the elderly, pregnant women, and children. In 2017, it further added home nursing care (with nurses providing in-home nursing services) and therapeutic accompaniment (offering professional nursing accompaniment by nurses for patients undergoing prolonged treatment or hospitalization).

“With the aging of the urban resident population and the implementation of the two-child policy, there is substantial demand for healthcare services.” Zhang Zhenhua believes that nurses, being young, equipped with professional medical knowledge, and possessing an internet-savvy mindset, are the key to unlocking the vast healthcare services market.

Incubated internally, operated independently

At its inception, Xiaoqu Hao Hushi was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Quyi Network. In January 2017, Xiaoqu Hao Hushi was spun off from its parent company, Quyi Network, to operate independently. Against the backdrop of building a “Big Health” ecosystem, the independent operation of Xiaoqu Hao Hushi is an inevitable trend in the development of the medical services industry.

In alignment with the overarching trend toward internet-based and platform-driven development in healthcare information, Kyee Group’s two key subsidiaries, Kyee Corporation and QuYi Network, have entered a phase of business restructuring. Specifically, QuYi Network’s B2B operations (including tiered diagnosis and treatment, comprehensive payment solutions, etc.) will be fully merged into Kyee Corporation to form the (new) Kyee Corporation, comprehensively meeting the needs of government agencies and healthcare institutions for IT infrastructure construction in the “Internet+” era.

In response, Dr. Li Zhi, Chairman of Kyee Group, stated to VCBeat that these initiatives align with the trends of the Internet era in the healthcare industry, aiming to build a healthcare information industry platform with “Internet” + “Platform” as its core strategic direction for the future.

As a nurse service platform incubated internally by Quyi Network, Xiaoqu Good Nurse is committed to improving patients’ healthcare experience, enhancing consultation efficiency, and innovating nursing service models. It also provides nurses with a robust platform for part-time opportunities, enabling them to leverage their professional expertise while increasing their income. Furthermore, Xiaoqu Good Nurse will strengthen cross-industry collaborations and explore a wider variety of nurse-led service products to achieve synergistic development.
