On June 16, WeDoctor and Luneng Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing. The two parties will join hands to carry out in-depth cooperation in the field of "Internet + Family Medicine + Real Estate," integrating WeDoctor’s brand and services from its WeDoctor General Practice Centers into Luneng Group’s large-scale real estate projects. They aim to establish a “10-minute medical service circle” to provide property owners with membership-based, integrated online-and-offline proactive health management services.
Currently, the country is vigorously promoting the construction of a family doctor system to establish a healthcare pattern where “minor illnesses are treated in the community, while major illnesses are referred to hospitals.” On May 23, the General Office of the State Council issued the “Opinions on Supporting Social Forces to Provide Multi-level and Diversified Medical Services,” which pointed out that social forces should be encouraged to develop high-quality general practice clinics, providing contracted services such as medical care, public health, and health management for residents.
This signing marks the first large-scale implementation of a privately operated general practice clinic in China following the State Council’s new policy. The emergence of this collaboration model may help make general practice clinics a “standard feature” in medium- and large-sized real estate communities across the country.
Under the agreement, both parties will leverage their respective service platforms and advantages to deepen strategic business cooperation. In line with project requirements, they will jointly promote the implementation of four distinct models for building general practice centers of varying scales. It is reported that the first collaborative project between WeDoctor and Luneng Group will launch at Lingxiu City, a large-scale mid-to-high-end development by Luneng in Jinan. With the introduction of WeDoctor’s general practice services, 100,000 community residents will gain access to one-stop health and medical services, including online-offline integrated disease diagnosis and treatment, remote consultations, health promotion, chronic disease follow-up, and rehabilitation management.
With the advent of the “Real Estate Plus” era, integrating healthcare services into communities has become a significant extension of real estate developers’ industrial chains. Supporting health and medical services have emerged as a new strategic high ground fiercely contested by leading real estate institutions. As a public, professional, high-quality, and leading pan-industrial real estate developer and clean energy investment operator, Luneng Group achieved total sales of RMB 64.6 billion in 2016, ranking 15th among China’s Top 100 Real Estate Enterprises and first in growth potential. Achieving counter-trend growth during the “Silver Age” of the real estate industry, Luneng Group’s real estate segment made substantial contributions. By tapping into the RMB 8 trillion healthcare market, the group has ushered in a comprehensive upgrade in both the value-added potential of its real estate assets and its service offerings.
As a chain of physical medical institutions under WeDoctor, WeDoctor General Practice will jointly promote the specific implementation of this strategic cooperation with Luneng Group. According to the previously released plan, WeDoctor General Practice will establish 100 general practice centers across China within three years through open models such as self-construction, franchising, and trusteeship, in accordance with JCI standards, aiming to build the “Starbucks” of the healthcare industry. Led by Professor He Chao, former President of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine, the team of WeDoctor General Practice mostly consists of members from renowned Grade A tertiary hospitals and excellent community health service centers, including advisory board members from overseas well-known medical platforms such as Infinite MD and Yuesheng.
Guided by the philosophy of “whole-person, whole-process, and whole-family” care, WeDoctor General Practice leverages its information technology platform and mobile health technologies to provide individuals, families, and enterprises with one-stop health maintenance and medical services encompassing prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. In March this year, the WeDoctor General Practice Center commenced operations in Hangzhou, garnering favor from Tencent, 8 million Zhejiang entrepreneurs, and real estate developers across various regions. Within less than two months, the WeDoctor General Practice Center (Hangzhou) has added an average of over 300 new service members per month, delivering health services to more than 1,000 member/resident visits.
“By introducing the professional medical services of WeDoctor’s General Practice Centers, we can not only ensure that the personalized health needs of different property owners are met, but also bring more specialized management expertise to the Group’s health-focused and sports-oriented real estate sectors, thereby facilitating a comprehensive upgrade of project amenities and services,” said a relevant official from Luneng Group.
At the signing ceremony, He Chao, Senior Vice President of WeDoctor and founder of WeDoctor General Practice, stated that WeDoctor General Practice would introduce a three-tier service system to the communities under the Luneng Group.
First, WeDoctor General Practice has assembled a service team that places the greatest emphasis on practical application within the domestic and international fields of general practice medicine, thereby establishing a service system that meets the national 4S standards;
Secondly, WeDoctor General Practice connects to over 7,200 multidisciplinary expert teams on the WeDoctor platform, enabling patients to be connected with the appropriate specialists across China within 15 seconds for comprehensive consultation services.
Finally, WeDoctor’s General Practice Centers have established appointment and referral channels with 2,460 key hospitals, promptly meeting patients’ needs for surgeries, hospitalization, and other services.
It is reported that the cooperation between WeDoctor and Luneng Group represents a practical exploration by both parties in building an internet-based health community, and marks a significant step in WeDoctor’s nationwide rollout of 100 regional general practice centers.
He Chao stated that WeDoctor will also adopt an open model to collaborate with local government agencies, real estate developers, and large enterprises in medium- and large-sized cities, jointly establishing community-based and enterprise-based WeDoctor general practice services. The company aims to build and operate a chain organization that tightly integrates online and offline services, proactively providing users with health maintenance solutions, thereby serving as the most professional “health gatekeeper.”
