200 Senior Executives Gather at China Optics Valley Bio-Health Expo to Advance 'Medical-Academic-Industrial' Innovation Ecosystem

From June 30 to July 2, the 2nd “China Optics Valley Bio-Expo” will be held at the new Optics Valley Science and Technology Convention and Exhibition Center!

On June 16, the press conference for the 2nd “China Optics Valley” International Biohealth Industry Expo (hereinafter referred to as the 2nd “Biohealth Expo”) was held at Optics Valley Bio-city. More than 30 media outlets attended, including central news agencies and financial media based in Hubei Province and Wuhan City, provincial and municipal news media, and online media. Dan Changchun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, Executive Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee, and Director of the Bio-industry Office, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Qian Deping, Executive Deputy Director of the Bio-industry Office, introduced the relevant details of the expo.



The 2nd “Bio-Expo” was hosted by the Wuhan Municipal People’s Government, organized by the Administrative Committee of Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone, and supported by the National Health and Family Planning Commission.


The conference is guided by the “Belt and Road” development strategy, with “"Innovation-Led, Life and Health"Centered on the theme, with the Wuhan National Bio-industry Base as the link, and aiming to promote supply-side structural reform in the bio-health industry and build a collaborative innovation system among “medical institutions, research institutes, and enterprises.”

Spanning an exhibition area of approximately 20,000 square meters, the event will bring together domestic and international biopharmaceutical R&D institutions, medical facilities, financial institutions, enterprises, and talent teams to establish a comprehensive platform for policy discussion, academic exchange, clinical application, achievement trading, project collaboration, and investment and financing matchmaking.

Concurrently with the exhibition, more than 10 professional forums will be held. Leaders from relevant national ministries and commissions, including the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), and the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA), will attend the event.


Gathering of Renowned Enterprises, Showcasing Professionalism and High-End Excellence


The total exhibition area of the 2nd “Bio Expo” reached 18,200 square meters, featuring 93 custom-built booths and 113 standard booths.


The exhibition, aligned with key trends in the biohealth industry, features seven dedicated zones: biopharmaceuticals, precision diagnosis and treatment, medical devices, biological agriculture, biotechnology, smart healthcare and big data, and prevention and control of major diseases.

Attracting more than 250 exhibitors, including CBTC China-Belgium Technology Park, biological industrial parks in Shanghai and Chongqing, as well as leading domestic and international industry players such as Sanofi, Merck & Co., Novo Nordisk, Fresenius Kabi, Sinopharm, China National Seed Group, Humanwell Healthcare, United Imaging Healthcare, Mindray, WuXi AppTec, BGI Genomics, CSPC Pharmaceutical Group, Xikang Bio, and Ankon Technologies.


BGI Genomics will unveil its latest BGISEQ-50 high-throughput sequencing system at the exhibition. Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare will make a grand debut with its independently developed uMI780 and uPMR790 molecular imaging devices. Also on display will be the world’s first Optical Shuttle MRI, the world’s first real-time multi-dimensional holographic mrCT, and the “Smart Healthcare Cloud” system.


Zhongqi Bio, a local star enterprise, will launch the world’s first electrocardiogram (ECG) machine tailored specifically for children. Zhongzhi Bio showcased “Zhongzhi Star,” the only domestically registered multiplex RNA assay for respiratory pathogens. Additionally, new anti-cancer technologies and products were presented, such as Sheng Qi’an Bio’s tumor vesicle-based anticancer technology.


A Gathering of Industry Leaders: A Forum Brimming with Exciting Events

The forum has invited approximately 200 high-profile speakers, including ten academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering—such as Gao Fu, Fu Xiaobing, Chen Xiaoping, Yu Jinming, Wang Hongyang, He Jie, Yu Mengsun, Deng Zixin, Liu Changxiao, and Wei Yuquan; over 40 hospital presidents or department directors; more than 60 leading scholars from universities and research institutions; over 50 business leaders from China and abroad; more than 50 international guests from nearly 20 countries; and prominent figures from the investment community, including the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), Kleiner Perkins, China Minsheng Investment Corp. (CMIG), Shanlan Capital, Borun Investment, Hualing Capital, and Ping An Venture Capital, to jointly discuss strategies for the development of the biotechnology and healthcare industry.

Openness, Sharing, and Prominent Internationalization


The 2nd “Bio-Expo” upheld the philosophy of openness and sharing, actively aligning with the Belt and Road Initiative. It received strong support from internationally renowned institutions, including the British Consulate-General in Wuhan, the French Consulate-General in Wuhan, the Belgian Consulate-General in Shanghai, the Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB), the UK Medical Research Council (MRC), the Chinese American Biopharmaceutical Society, the New York Center for Natural Healing in the United States, and the Institute of Pathology at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin in Germany.


Led by Academician Gao Fu, President of the Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB), biotechnology experts from South Korea, Japan, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, and other countries and regions convened in Wuhan for the inaugural Asian Biotechnology Summit. During the event, the establishment of the “Wuhan Office of the Asian Federation of Biotechnology” was announced, designating Wuhan as a hub for biotechnology exchange and cooperation in Asia. This initiative aims to build bridges connecting Wuhan’s academic and corporate biotechnology sectors with their counterparts across Asia, thereby fostering the exchange and integration of products and technologies.


CBTC China Biotech Park invited executives from the Consulate General of Belgium in Shanghai, KPMG, and UCB Pharma to deliver presentations at the exhibition on the European investment climate, biopharmaceutical industry policies, business, tax, and legal advisory services, current industrial development trends, and international cooperation opportunities. The event also showcased European culture and aimed to facilitate the global expansion of Chinese biopharmaceutical companies.


Mohamed Aly AG Ibrahim, Minister of Industry of Mali, led a delegation from eight African countries—Mali, Guinea, Senegal, Niger, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, and Burkina Faso—to attend the conference and exhibition, engaging in on-site procurement and cooperation negotiations.


The United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany will also actively participate in the International Exhibition of the “Major Disease Prevention and Control Program,” showcasing the latest international technologies and products for the treatment of major diseases.


During the conference, more than 20 activities will be interspersed, including project signings, new product launches, award ceremonies, and project promotions.


Among them, Wuhan Optics Valley Bio-city, Shanghai Zhangjiang Pharma Valley, Taizhou China Medical City, Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, and Chongqing Maliu Riverside Development Zone will sign the “Strategic Cooperation Agreement on the Joint Establishment of the Yangtze River Economic Belt Bio-industry Alliance by Five Parties,” forging a collaborative development link among industrial parks along the Yangtze River Economic Belt; meanwhile, a group of companies including WuXi AppTec, United Imaging Healthcare, and Asia-Pacific Pharmaceutical will sign project entry agreements with Optics Valley Bio-city.For specific registration details, please click here.
