VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat), June 22 — The 20th China (Chongqing) International Investment and Global Sourcing Fair (hereinafter referred to as the “Yuchat Fair”), co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce, the State Council’s Three Gorges Project Construction Committee, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, opened today at the Chongqing International Expo Center. More than 6,000 Chinese and foreign enterprises exhibited, with tens of thousands of business attendees from 48 countries participating.
At the centralized signing ceremony for major projects, Xie Fangmin, CEO of Jianke, signed a cooperation agreement with the Chongqing Municipal Government, announcing that Jianke’s Southwest Center would be established in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing, and revealing plans to subsequently establish an “Internet + Chronic Disease Management” hospital in Jiulongpo.

Nowadays, chronic diseases have become the “leading killer” and a significant burden on the health of Chinese residents. However, the monitoring and management services for chronic diseases are not well-suited to be provided by highly centralized hospitals, which presents tremendous development opportunities for internet healthcare, particularly in the field of chronic disease management services.
To explore the “Internet + Chronic Disease Management” model, Jianke plans to establish an Internet-based chronic disease management hospital in Jiulongpo District, Chongqing, integrating online chronic disease management services with offline rehabilitation and treatment services. The total project investment amounts to RMB 200 million. The hospital will primarily provide diversified chronic disease medical services, including online consultations for chronic conditions, health service management, and mobile healthcare. Specific offerings encompass outpatient and inpatient diagnostic and treatment services, health education, and basic public health services. Core initiatives focus on the management of common chronic diseases, rehabilitation for prevalent chronic conditions, and two-way referral systems with hospitals within the district and across the city.
Upon the hospital’s completion, Jianke will leverage this platform to further explore standardized chronic disease management processes, introduce advanced domestic and international best practices in chronic care, attract top-tier medical talent, and promote health education and awareness. Through online-offline integration, it aims to bring greater benefits to a larger population of patients with chronic diseases.
Currently, the mainstream “Internet + Chronic Disease Management” models in China are all conducted online via smart hardware or apps. However, a purely online approach cannot address core challenges in chronic disease management, such as patient adherence and the integration of treatment with exercise.
Xie Fangmin believes that, “due to limitations in technology and business models, current ‘Internet + chronic disease management’ remains at a superficial stage of development and cannot yet achieve deep integration. However, breakthroughs in chronic disease management require the integrated development of online and offline services, which can address the ‘pain points’ that cannot be resolved through online channels alone to the greatest extent possible.”
In addition, Xie Fangmin revealed, “Chongqing’s economic growth rate has consistently ranked among the top cities in China in recent years, demonstrating strong development momentum. In the future, Jianke will increase its investment in Chongqing and plans to establish a chronic disease service call center with 500 staff members, aiming to position Chongqing as a strategic pillar in Jianke’s development landscape.”

Xie Fangmin stated, “Chronic disease management services represent the mainstream direction in the current development and strategic layout of internet healthcare. As a leading pharmaceutical e-commerce enterprise in China, Jianke is leveraging its extensive experience in chronic disease pharmaceutical care management, robust mobile health technologies, and superior drug resource advantages to establish its first internet-based chronic disease management hospital in Chongqing. This initiative marks the beginning of Jianke’s in-depth strategic deployment in the ‘Internet + Chronic Disease Management’ sector.”
This year marks a pivotal year for Jianke’s comprehensive push into the internet healthcare sector. In March, Jianke announced its partnership with Guangzhou Baiyun Jingtai Hospital, formally venturing into the exploration of internet healthcare. In mid-June, Jianke announced the acquisition of Wuhan Xiongchu Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital, launching a model of acquiring physical hospitals to develop its internet healthcare business. With this latest move, Jianke has once again taken action by establishing a self-built hospital in Chongqing, pioneering a new path for exploring internet healthcare.
Last month, the “Administrative Measures for Internet-based Diagnosis and Treatment (Trial) (Draft for Comments),” which sparked extensive discussion and attention within the industry, also proposed that internet-based diagnosis and treatment must be anchored in physical hospitals. In Jianke’s view, the long-term development of internet healthcare must rely on physical medical institutions.
“Although the development of internet healthcare helps address issues such as the uneven distribution of medical resources, it is unrealistic for internet healthcare to pursue a purely online development path, whether from the perspective of future policy regulation or the industry’s sustainable development,” said Xie Fangmin.
As a leading pharmaceutical e-commerce platform in China, Jianke secured $100 million in Series A financing early last year and raised an additional $50 million in its Series A+ round this May. Bolstered by strong capital support, Jianke has begun to aggressively expand its footprint in physical hospitals across China this year.
Xie Fangmin revealed that Jianke will establish six physical hospitals across China this year. In addition to the previously launched Guangzhou Baiyun District Shejingtai Hospital and Wuhan Xiongchu Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital, as well as the Chongqing Internet Chronic Disease Management Hospital signed in this agreement, the company also plans to deepen its cooperation with physical hospitals in Hainan, Beijing, Guangdong, Hubei, and other regions, thereby laying a foundation for the development of internet healthcare.
“Whether through direct acquisition of hospitals or investment in self-built facilities, physical hospitals are central to Jianke’s strategy for perfecting its layout across the pharmaceutical and broader healthcare industry. They also serve as the supporting platform for constructing a closed-loop health service ecosystem integrating ‘Internet + Pharmaceuticals + Hospitals + Patients,’ ultimately laying a solid foundation for building a comprehensive smart health service platform,” said Xie Fangmin.
