Standardized Cardiac Rehabilitation Pathways Emerge as Key Breakthrough: Ruihua Xinkang Officially Launches Its Industry-Academia-Research Initiative

The “Beijing Society for Precision Medicine · Fuwai Hospital First Cardiac Rehabilitation Clinical Skills Training Course,” hosted by the Beijing Society for Precision Medicine and co-organized by the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center of Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and the Beijing Ruihua Cardiac Rehabilitation Research Center, successfully commenced in Beijing on June 29, 2017.

Under the policy guidance of "Healthy China 2030," the field of cardiac rehabilitation is experiencing a robust surge in development. While the value of cardiac rehabilitation has gained increasing recognition, critical challenges remain in China that require urgent attention: establishing specialized cardiac rehabilitation centers, strengthening core technical capabilities, cultivating professional rehabilitation personnel, and standardizing clinical pathways for cardiac rehabilitation practices. This conference focuses on the theoretical foundations and core technologies of cardiac rehabilitation and treatment, aiming to train specialized cardiac rehabilitation professionals in China and share best practices in phased management and practical operational skills.

This four-day training course convened a distinguished panel of senior clinical experts in cardiovascular disease, including Vice President Wang Xiangqun from Peking University Sixth Hospital; Feng Xue, Director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at Fuwai Hospital; Sun Xingguo, Director of the Cardiopulmonary Research Laboratory at Fuwai Hospital; Professors Liu Wenxian and Cheng Shujuan from the Department of Cardiology at Anzhen Hospital; Professor Zhang Haibo from the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Anzhen Hospital; Professor Zhao Wei from the Department of Cardiology at Beijing Third Hospital; and Zhang Lan, Director of the Beijing Ruihua Cardiac Rehabilitation Center. Together, they shared clinical experiences and addressed key challenges in China’s cardiac rehabilitation sector, aiming to advance the development of the industry nationwide.

“Cardiac rehabilitation initiatives and the development of rehabilitation centers have been gaining significant momentum in recent years, yet cardiac rehabilitation in China has a history of only about two decades. Compared with foreign countries, this history is still very short, necessitating prompt reference to and learning from international models and experiences. However, due to differences in the broader healthcare environment, we must adapt these international experiences to China’s specific context, thereby exploring a cardiac rehabilitation model tailored to the Chinese population,” stated Zhang Lan, Director of Ruihua Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Cardiac rehabilitation encompasses medical assessment, exercise therapy, dietary intervention, psychological counseling, risk factor management, patient health education, and lifestyle guidance. It advocates a multidisciplinary team-based care model led by cardiologists, addressing the multifaceted medical objectives of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, thereby constituting a comprehensive and effective therapeutic strategy for patients with cardiovascular disease. The training program not only enhanced foundational theoretical knowledge but also provided ample opportunity for practical validation, representing a true integration of theory and practice in advanced professional development.
