Yasen Technology Secures Tens of Millions in Series A+ Funding to Target Medical Consortiums and Tiered Diagnosis Markets

Recently, VCBeat learned that Beijing Yasen Technology Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Yasen Tech”) has secured tens of millions of yuan in Series A+ financing, with the investor being KeDa Intelligent Robot Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “KeDa Intelligent Robot”).

In the early stages of its founding, Yasen Technology secured RMB 4.5 million in angel financing. On December 12, 2016, Yasen Technology completed its Series A financing round, amounting to tens of millions of RMB. The Series A investors were Shunxi Fund under Fangzhong Gu Group and Huqiu Medical Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.

Following this round of financing, Yasen Technology will further comprehensively advance the R&D and market promotion of its platform products in the field of medical artificial intelligence. Its product portfolio will also expand from neurology, hematology, and respiratory care to pathology and endocrinology.

In terms of the market,Yasen will focus on two target markets: first, medical consortium hospitals, where a single hospital covers other healthcare institutions within the region, thereby establishing a data foundation; second, it will prioritize tiered diagnosis and treatment by providing an intelligent analysis platform for common conditions—such as pulmonary, breast, and fracture-related diseases—to primary care institutions.

Following this financing round, Yasen Technology will further accelerate the comprehensive development and market promotion of its platform products in the field of medical artificial intelligence. In the future, the company will focus on expanding into Fujian, Guizhou, and Shandong provinces to establish demonstration pilot projects.

Chen Hui, founder of Yasen Technology, believes thatIn the current artificial intelligence industry, data, algorithms, and computing power are no longer significant barriers; the key to a company’s success lies in exploring a business model that can effectively penetrate the market.

Yasen Technology, established in 2006, is a high-tech enterprise that was among the first in China to specialize in artificial intelligence-based analysis of medical imaging, quantitative nuclear medicine, and computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) analysis. The company focuses on employing various mathematical algorithms for medical image processing, machine training, large-database comparison, and the development and application of standardized biophysical imaging models.

The company’s management and R&D teams comprise top-tier talent from IBM, HP, and Toshiba Medical, as well as graduates of prestigious institutions including Nankai University, Tsinghua University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chang Gung University in Taiwan, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the United States, and the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom.

Yasen Technology employs its proprietary patented mathematical models to conduct collaborative research projects with multiple leading hospitals in China, focusing on quantitative analysis of organs such as the brain, heart, lungs, and thyroid. The company develops and validates biomathematical analytical methods for specific diseases while continuously building a normative database for the Chinese population.

Comprehensive Analysis of Multi-Source Data Using Artificial Intelligence

VCBeat once published an article titled ““Medical Imaging AI+” Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration May Become a New Direction for the Development of Medical AI Enterprises》, which states that cross-disciplinary collaboration and R&D based on AI-powered medical imaging combined with clinical information may become a new direction for the development of healthcare AI companies.

Yasen Technology shares this view, believing that the complexity of medical diagnosis far exceeds that of screening. Rather than pursuing diagnostic speed, greater emphasis should be placed on accuracy, including determining benign versus malignant nature, staging and subtyping, and identifying primary versus metastatic lesions. However, accurate diagnosis cannot be achieved solely based on imaging data. Therefore, Yasen Technology has constructed a multimodal data framework, incorporating imaging, pathology, and medical records for comprehensive analysis across multiple data sources.

Currently, Yasen Technology has developed relatively mature AI products for brain diagnostics, which are undergoing final data validation at a hospital. Reportedly, this is a typical multimodal product that integrates MRI data, EEG data, and scale assessment data to comprehensively predict the progression trend of Alzheimer’s disease.

Next year, Yasen will also launch a platform-based product for lung cancer, integrating pulmonary CT, PET, and pathological data to diagnose lung cancer and provide prognostic plans.

Custom AI Platform Development for Partner Hospitals

Chen Hui, founder of Yasen Technology, stated that the company’s development focus lies not in covering a wide range of diseases, but in conducting in-depth exploration of specific conditions using machine learning. More importantly, aligned with its strategy of “AI-enabling” hospitals, the company will provide hospitals with a comprehensive AI analytics platform—Yasen Tianji.

As the artificial intelligence industry is still in its early stages of development, there is a lack of standardized databases within the sector. Models trained on data from one or a few hospitals often experience reduced accuracy when deployed in other healthcare institutions. However, if an AI system is only effective in specific environments and lacks products that are sufficiently adaptable, such AI solutions hold little practical value.

To address this issue, Yasen will start with foundational data acquisition and develop customized AI platforms for partner hospitals, covering the entire process of data collection, cleaning, storage, and algorithmic model development, thereby enabling hospitals to build their own in-house AI analytical capabilities.

In April this year, Yasen has reached a cooperation with a well-known medical consortium to develop and deploy the Yasen Tianji platform, taking an important step in hospital "AI empowerment".
