Following the announcement of its new “3EP” strategy (Empowering Hospitals, Empowering Partners, and Empowering Patients), Chunyu Doctors signed an agreement with Yanda Hospital on September 16, marking the first step in implementing this new strategy.

The key highlight of this signing ceremony is the official launch of the “Yanda Hospital Internet Diagnosis and Treatment Platform,” jointly developed by both parties. This marks the entry of Hebei Yanda Hospital’s high-quality medical services into the online era, leveraging internet technology to extend premium healthcare resources across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and throughout China.

On the other hand, this marks Chunyu Yisheng’s first collaboration with offline brick-and-mortar hospitals to empower them by enhancing their service capabilities, extending their service reach, and improving both service efficiency and quality. By integrating online internet platforms with offline physical hospitals, the platform will provide the public with an integrated healthcare service featuring a seamless online-to-offline (O2O) closed loop.Once this model matures, Chunyu Doctor may replicate and promote it across China.

What are the features of Yanda Hospital's Internet Diagnosis and Treatment Platform?

Hebei Yanda Hospital, located in Yanjiao Town, Sanhe City, is an affiliated hospital of Hebei Medical University and the only large-scale Grade A tertiary general hospital in the core area of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei cooperation. The hospital currently has 1,000 beds and operates 38 clinical departments, covering 22 wards including internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and otolaryngology-ophthalmology-stomatology. It has established a strategic disciplinary layout with key specialties such as neurology, cardiovascular diseases, obstetrics-gynecology-pediatrics, and oncology as its leading disciplines, alongside comprehensive development across all other departments.

Since May 9, 2014, Yanda Hospital has successively signed cooperation agreements with high-quality medical resources in Beijing, including Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, Beijing Tiantan Hospital, the Children’s Hospital Affiliated to the Capital Institute of Pediatrics, Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Heart Rhythm Doctors Group. It has engaged in multi-level, multi-dimensional, long-term, co-constructed strategic partnerships with these institutions.Yanda Hospital is also a pilot institution for the direct settlement of cross-regional medical expenses under Beijing’s medical insurance scheme. In August 2014, it was officially included in the list of designated medical institutions for Beijing’s New Rural Cooperative Medical Scheme (NRCMS). On January 5, 2017, it formally implemented direct settlement using Beijing social security cards, thereby facilitating convenient access to nearby medical care for nearly one million Beijing social security insured residents living in Yanjiao.

What are the distinguishing features of Yanda Hospital in its joint development and operational collaboration with Chunyu Doctors?

Built on the physical medical operations of Hebei Yanda Hospital and leveraging Chunyu Doctor’s internet technology, services, and operational capabilities, this platform integrates hospital information systems and reengineers clinical workflows to establish a multi-dimensional online healthcare access and health service network via WeChat Service Accounts, mobile apps, and websites. It is also the first internet healthcare platform in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to fully integrate online and offline operations and introduce a mature internet operational system.

Currently, the platform has achieved full internet-based integration of medical services across the pre-consultation, consultation, and post-consultation stages; established strong doctor-patient connections with real-time online communication capabilities, making health management a daily routine; and constructed a new chronic disease management system that enables online follow-up visits, medication guidance, and health management for patients with chronic conditions.

In the future, Yanda Hospital will partner with Chunyu Doctor to leverage “cloud healthcare” services, continuously exploring and enhancing a patient-centered medical experience, and building a comprehensive health ecosystem with interconnected data across pharmaceuticals, medical insurance, and commercial health insurance.

Six Key Highlights of Internet Medical Diagnosis and Treatment Platforms

According to Zhang Kun, CEO of Chunyu Doctor, the platform has many highlights; it can be said that this isChina“The Hospital + Internet” Model Truly Takes Off.

One key initiative is to let data do the running so patients have to walk less. Leveraging mobile internet technology, we have optimized traditional medical service processes to build a “patient-centered” cloud healthcare service system. Core hospital procedures—including appointment registration, in-clinic payments, and report retrieval—have been fully migrated online. Patients need only log into the Hebei Yanda Hospital WeChat Service Account and select the desired functions to significantly reduce time spent on navigating between departments, queuing, and waiting, thereby enjoying an enhanced healthcare experience.

Second, on-demand consultations facilitate enhanced doctor-patient communication. By building a bridge for doctor-patient interaction, health inquiries are addressed in real time. Patients receive “real-time companion-style” medical services, enabling them to consult and communicate with doctors anytime and anywhere. Leveraging the technical support of the “Chunyu Doctor” mobile doctor-patient interaction platform, physicians at Yanda Hospital have launched online service models to track, intervene in, and effectively prevent patients’ health risks through routine health management.

Third, care with zero distance, bringing medical services to every household. After signing up for family doctor services, all family members, from the elderly to children, can leverage remote video consultation technology. This enables patients in distant locations to receive online video consultations via web platforms and mobile apps without leaving home, accessing services such as medication guidance, health management for mild and chronic conditions, and multidisciplinary consultations for acute, severe, or complex cases. The high-quality medical resources of Yanda Hospital will enhance efficiency, serving grassroots communities more extensively, effectively, and rapidly, while extending its reach to even broader regions.

Fourth, medical consortium support facilitates the implementation of tiered diagnosis and treatment. Yanda Hospital has established an “Internet + Medical Consortium + Physicians” system, leveraging the Internet as a key enabler and forming alliances with core partner hospitals such as Beijing Chaoyang Hospital and Beijing Tiantan Hospital to build a mobile smart healthcare cloud platform that enables comprehensive collaboration among medical institutions within the consortium. Meanwhile, the hospital provides remote medical collaboration services to multiple community health service stations in the local area through its online platform, enhancing the clinical capabilities of primary care physicians and ensuring the effective implementation of tiered diagnosis and treatment.

Fifth, lock down information and shut the door on privacy. The Hebei Yanda Hospital Internet Diagnosis and Treatment Platform places a high priority on information security and patient privacy. By employing stringent technical oversight measures and comprehensive policy standards, it has established a standardized system for online and offline medical services, ensuring that medical service information and patient privacy remain inviolate and that big health data serves patients in a secure and reliable manner.

Sixth, medical data connectivity for a holistic health ecosystem. Hebei Yanda Hospital’s internet diagnosis and treatment platform will integrate all stages of disease prevention, medical care, payment, and post-illness recuperation, connecting users, testing institutions, pharmaceutical companies, insurers, payment platforms, and other healthcare service providers to build a new, comprehensive health service ecosystem through data interconnectivity.

After one month of operation, the hospital sees 200 new patients daily.

Since its trial launch in early August, Yanda Hospital’s Internet Diagnosis and Treatment Platform has achieved remarkable results. According to Yan Shifang, Vice President of Chunyu Doctor responsible for this project, the platform has served over 30,000 patients to date, with nearly 1,000 daily consultations and an average of 200 new patients per day for the hospital.

From the perspective of the hospital’s overall patient volume, following the launch of its internet diagnosis and treatment platform, Yanda Hospital has seen an increase of over 10% in total patient service volume, driven by precise online patient acquisition and effective offline user conversion. Feedback from online patients indicates a significant rise in satisfaction; physicians are perceived as more approachable, and patients report a deeper understanding of their own medical conditions.

Dr. Wang Xiaoli, Chief Physician in the Department of Neurology at Yanda Hospital, stated that the launch of the platform has indeed provided physicians with greater access to a wider range of patient cases, facilitated more thorough doctor-patient communication, and made routine patient follow-ups more convenient. As the platform continues to be refined, the value of physicians’ diagnostic and therapeutic services is expected to increase further, while their time management is anticipated to become more precise.

Meanwhile, internet-based departmental discipline construction has also achieved certain results. Statistical data show that departments such as Orthopedics, Neurology, Respiratory Medicine, and Cardiovascular Medicine are among the most active on Yanda Hospital’s internet diagnosis and treatment platform. This pattern differs markedly from offline departmental popularity but aligns more closely with Yanda Hospital’s disciplinary strengths. Strengthening the development of these advantageous specialties through online platforms, and enabling precise user matching and effective management for these departments, is expected to become a key strategy in the hospital’s internet operations.

In the realm of quality and safety, the platform’s launch has created an environment with strong controllability and scalability for exploring standards for online diagnosis and treatment, quality and safety control systems, and user privacy and data security frameworks. It is expected to provide valuable references for the formulation of national technical specifications and administrative measures.

"In Zhang Kun’s view, the road ahead is long; Yanda and Chunyu need to join hands to deeply cultivate internet operational strategies, empowering their physical businesses with digital capabilities for vigorous growth."
