The 2nd China Primary Care Respiratory Disease Prevention and Treatment Academic Forum, co-hosted by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and the Chinese Primary Care Respiratory Disease Prevention and Treatment Alliance of the Chinese Thoracic Society, was successfully held in Changchun, Jilin Province, from October 13 to 15, 2017. Nearly 3,000 primary care respiratory specialists, general practitioners, and other relevant stakeholders from more than 20 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across China attended the conference.
This forum was the first in China to integrate academic discourse with public welfare initiatives specifically for primary care respiratory physicians. It invited renowned domestic experts to engage in in-depth discussions and exchanges on topics including healthcare reform in China, advanced experiences in the prevention and management of respiratory diseases at the primary care level, policies regarding primary care respiratory diseases in China, and chronic disease management for respiratory conditions. The attendees consisted primarily of primary care physicians and grassroots medical institutions, with a focus on addressing the professional needs of these practitioners and summarizing their achievements and contributions in the field of respiratory medicine.
During the forum, the inaugural award ceremony for the “Soong Ching Ling Most Beautiful Grassroots Respiratory Physicians” was held. This award was established to honor and promote the noble virtues and esteemed professional image of grassroots respiratory physicians who dedicate themselves to primary care in remote and impoverished areas, saving lives and safeguarding the health of the general public. At the ceremony, attending leaders announced the list of awardees and presented certificates of honor.
