VCBeat has learned that on November 7, 2017, WeDoctor Beilian and Jinjiang Reproductive Medicine officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Chengdu. Leveraging its technological advantages as an internet-based platform for women’s and children’s health, WeDoctor Beilian will collaborate with Jinjiang Reproductive Medicine to establish the first internet-based reproductive medical consortium in Southwest China. This initiative aims to provide individuals facing infertility with a comprehensive, closed-loop online-to-offline (O2O) healthcare service solution covering preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum care, thereby upgrading the reproductive health ecosystem with higher-quality, more precise value-driven services.
In recent years, the prevalence of infertility in China has shown a year-on-year increase. According to survey results released by the China Population Association, there are currently over 40 million individuals affected by infertility in China, accounting for 12.5% of the population of childbearing age. The establishment of the Reproductive Medicine Consortium will enable the optimal utilization of medical resources, alleviate the burden on patients with infertility, and ensure they receive standardized, high-quality care.
Senior executives from Jinjiang Reproductive Health, Zhong Ying, President of Xi Nan Gynecological Hospital, Li Fan, Vice President of WeDoctor and General Manager of WeDoctor Beilian, and Yao Ya, Vice President of WeDoctor Beilian, attended the press conference. Li Fan and Zhong Ying signed a strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties, while attendees jointly witnessed the launch of the online consultation service platform for the Internet-based Reproductive Medicine Consortium.
WeDoctor boasts extensive experience in the “Internet + Healthcare” sector. Its subsidiary, WeDoctor Beilian, has cultivated deep expertise in women’s and children’s healthcare for many years, securing a dominant market position and exclusive resources within this vertical industry. Aligning with growing market demand, WeDoctor Beilian leverages its robust technological and resource advantages to extend the Internet-based Medical Consortium model to the pinnacle of women’s and children’s healthcare: reproductive medicine.
Meanwhile, as the largest reproductive medicine group in Southwest China, Jinjiang Reproduction has integrated its mature offline medical services into Weiyi Beilian’s circular service system, enriching Weiyi Beilian’s resources in maternal and child health and truly perfecting the entire ecosystem of women’s and children’s healthcare.
In an interview, Li Fan stated, “The national medical consortium policy has given us a clearer view of the industry’s promising prospects, leading to the emergence of specialized medical consortia. As a co-builder, WeDoctor Internet Women’s and Children’s Hospital will uphold the spirit of openness, collaboration, and sharing inherent to the internet. Leveraging offline physical hospitals as its foundation and supported by technologies such as Internet Plus, AI, and big data, we will rapidly capitalize on our collaborative advantages. Furthermore, we hope to leverage this platform to harness the academic leadership of experts and scholars, providing effective technical guidance to grassroots physicians through online and offline exchanges, thereby better serving the broader user base.”
At the press conference, Zhong Ying, Deputy General Manager of Jinxin Medical Investment Management Group Co., Ltd. and General Manager of Chengdu Xinan Gynecological Hospital Co., Ltd., stated that the Internet-based reproductive medicine consortium consultation service platform represents a new trend in the industry. “Currently, assisted reproductive medical resources remain relatively concentrated, and there is room for improvement in reproductive technologies and service standards. The ‘Internet+’ model is an excellent approach, and WeDoctor, as an industry leader, has already implemented numerous demonstration projects across China.” Zhong expressed her hope that Jinjiang Reproductive Medicine, together with the hospital members of its specialized tiered diagnosis and treatment network for reproductive medicine—comprising 54 strategic partner hospitals within Sichuan Province—would fully collaborate with WeDoctor in the field of “Internet+ Healthcare.” By opening up offline medical resources, this partnership aims to provide the general public with more convenient, efficient, and high-quality medical services.
Jinjiang Reproductive Medicine is the earliest medical institution in Sichuan Province to offer assisted reproductive technologies. Established 17 years ago, it operates with the mission of “bringing the smile of parenthood to every couple,” and has helped more than 24,093 families welcome babies. WeDoctor Beilian leverages WeDoctor’s platform, which covers 260,000 physicians across 2,400 key hospitals in 29 provinces, to enhance overall primary healthcare service capacity by providing online consultations between patients and doctors, as well as remote consultations among physicians.
Leveraging its mature operational experience with internet-based medical consortia, WeDoctor Beilian provides technical support and operational management for the tiered diagnosis and treatment network in reproductive medicine, which comprises Jinjiang Reproduction and its 54 strategically partnered hospitals. This initiative effectively disseminates specialized expertise and medical resources, enhances diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities in relevant specialties at lower-tier hospitals, and efficiently facilitates vertical integration across care levels. Covering 76% of the province’s area, the network will significantly improve access to diagnosis and treatment for patients in Southwest China.
