As rehabilitation medicine gains momentum, not only is the rehabilitation market experiencing a resurgence, but academic discourse on rehabilitation care is also becoming increasingly in-depth.
From November 10 to 12, the Nanhai International Rehabilitation Forum was successfully held at the Vienna International Hotel (Shenzhen North Railway Station Branch). The conference was organized by the Shenzhen Medical Association of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Hong Kong Occupational Therapy Academy, and co-hosted by the Second People’s Hospital of Shenzhen, the Nanao People’s Hospital of Dapeng New Area in Shenzhen, and the Shenzhen Quality Control Center for Rehabilitation Treatment.
The conference, themed “Smart Rehabilitation and Integrated Rehabilitation,” was conducted with one main venue and seven parallel sessions, focusing on advancing academic development, exchanging scholarly experiences, and sharing clinical achievements.

At this conference, the Visualized Rehabilitation Cloud System—a powerful tool for tiered diagnosis and treatment—made a stunning debut. As a key instrument for tiered diagnosis and treatment, the Visualized Rehabilitation Cloud System plays a significant role in helping hospitals better implement the national policy on tiered diagnosis and treatment.
At the main venue on the 12th, seven experts delivered presentations on topics including rehabilitation strategies for joint trauma; exploration of a tiered diagnosis and treatment model for “chronic trauma”; rehabilitation in the era of “Internet Plus”; and new models of cognitive rehabilitation centered on rebuilding life. The experts were Professor Zhang Changjie, Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University; Professor Dang Yingjie, President of Wuxi Rehabilitation Hospital; Assistant Professor Hsieh Tsung-Hsun from the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, College of Medicine, Chang Gung University; Zheng Jiejiao, Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Huadong Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University; Ou Haining, Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University; Li Ying from Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital; and the Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Shenzhen Bao’an Hospital (Shenzhen Bao’an People’s Hospital) Affiliated to Southern Medical University.
Discussions on the current state of rehabilitation development and practical techniques were held at the main venue and various sub-venues, including those focused on chronic disease management, pediatric rehabilitation and development, occupational therapy, rehabilitation nursing, rehabilitation quality control, rehabilitation treatment, and orthopedic treatment. These sessions greatly enriched attendees’ professional knowledge and played a significant role in enhancing the theoretical understanding and clinical competencies of rehabilitation physicians, therapists, and nurses.
At this conference, three specialized committees were established under the Shenzhen Association of Rehabilitation Medicine: the Committee on Pediatric Rehabilitation and Developmental Medicine, the Committee on Rehabilitation Therapy, and the Committee on Orthopedics, to advance the development of rehabilitation medicine.
At the closing ceremony, Director Xia Diwen of Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital pointed out that the conference was unprecedented in scale, with over 1,000 attendees. The participation of experts from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan in this summit holds significant importance for promoting academic exchanges in rehabilitation among Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Hainan, and the Pearl River Delta region, as well as for advancing the development of rehabilitation medicine.
