From December 3 to 5, 2017, the highly anticipated 4th World Internet Conference was held in Wuzhen. More than 1,500 guests from over 80 countries gathered in Wuzhen, Zhejiang, to discuss the digital economy and global internet governance. As an internationally leading intelligent healthcare platform, WeDoctor was invited to attend the thematic press conference of the World Internet Conference and launched WeDoctor Cloud, the world’s first cloud platform dedicated to intelligent healthcare. During his inspection of WeDoctor Cloud’s hospital applications, Robert Kahn, known as the “Father of the Internet,” praised it as “Amazing.”

In 2010, WeDoctor started with online appointment registration. Over the past seven years, it has deeply cultivated the internet healthcare industry, establishing deep connections across various medical service supply-and-demand scenarios involving hospitals, doctors, patients, and the pharmaceutical and insurance industries. It has achieved cloud-based transformation for hospital service windows, physician consulting rooms, diagnostic tests and examinations, medical consortia, regional resident health records, and medical insurance payment and settlement, thereby building the most widely adopted medical cloud platform in terms of international application scale.

“Connectivity and cloud migration have broken down the walls of hospitals, gradually achieving data, workforce, and resource synergy, bringing breakthrough capability enhancements to the entire healthcare industry.” At the press conference, Liao Jieyuan, founder of WeDoctor, stated that leveraging seven years of data accumulation and scenario connectivity, WeDoctor Cloud provides dozens of cloud-based solutions—including internet hospitals, internet medical consortia, family doctor contracting, cloud pharmacies, and AI-assisted medical diagnosis—to a diverse range of users such as governments, hospitals, primary healthcare institutions, and health enterprises. It has assisted Beijing Tiantan Hospital in establishing the “Tiantan Neurological Disease Specialist Alliance,” helped the Heilongjiang Provincial Government build the “Heilongjiang Provincial Population Health Information Platform,” and undertaken the “Wenzhou Regional Medical Collaboration Platform,” becoming the intelligent medical cloud platform with the widest international application scale.

Wuzhen Internet Hospital, which has completed its intelligent upgrade based on WeDoctor Cloud, remains a highlight of this year’s World Internet Conference. To date, Wuzhen Internet Hospital has connected more than 2,400 hospitals across China, 7,200 expert medical teams, and 150 million registered platform users, with daily consultations exceeding 60,000, making it the largest telemedicine collaboration network in China. In his keynote address at the 4th World Internet Conference, Yuan Jiajun, Deputy Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Zhejiang Province, pointed out that Wuzhen Internet Hospital enables residents to consult top-tier specialists from the comfort of their homes, serving as a vibrant example of Zhejiang’s development of the digital economy.

The Wuzhen Internet Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Clinic, also built on the WeDoctor Cloud platform, has emerged as a new favorite in internet healthcare at this year’s World Internet Conference. On the evening of November 3, Chen Zhaoxiong, Vice Minister and Party Committee Member of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, made a special trip to the Wuzhen Internet TCM Clinic for an inspection. Upon learning that the Huatuo Intelligent Doctor, developed based on WeDoctor Cloud, has been deployed in over 310 TCM clinics across 11 cities nationwide, assisting in the issuance of more than 1.7 million prescriptions, he encouraged WeDoctor to continue promoting the application of information technology in intelligent healthcare. He further urged the company to leverage internet and artificial intelligence technologies to standardize and systematize the inheritance of TCM schools and renowned physicians’ classic prescriptions, thereby supporting the global outreach of TCM culture under the Belt and Road Initiative.

WeDoctor Founder Liao Jieyuan at the Conference

On December 4, the day of WeDoctor Cloud’s launch, Robert Kahn, the American computer scientist known as the “Father of the Internet,” and Gao Xinmin, Executive Vice Chairman of the Internet Society of China, visited the Wuzhen Internet Hospital and the Wuzhen Internet Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic. They engaged in in-depth discussions with Liao Jieyuan regarding WeDoctor Cloud’s innovations in data transmission and data security, repeatedly praising them as “Amazing.”

“Cloud is the soil, AI is the tree, and terminals are the fruit.” Liao Jieyuan stated that, leveraging extensive scenario connectivity and massive medical data, WeDoctor Cloud will develop an AI-assisted diagnosis and treatment system by utilizing technologies such as big data, cloud computing, and machine learning. This will enable hundreds of millions of households to access more affordable and higher-quality healthcare services through health terminals.

It is reported that the AI-assisted diagnostic system, developed based on WeDoctor Cloud and trained through deep learning on millions of high-quality data sets, has achieved key breakthroughs in more than ten specialized fields, including pulmonary nodule detection, diabetic retinopathy screening, cervical cancer screening, bone age assessment, and general practice assistance. Notably, for the binary classification of diabetic retinopathy, the system achieved a specificity of 99% and a sensitivity of 95% across most datasets. These technical indicators surpass those of tech giant Google, reaching an internationally leading level.

On the day of the WeDoctor Cloud launch, WeDoctor also unveiled China’s first integrated smart health terminal combining “software + hardware + services.” This terminal provides individual and family users with services such as one-click consultations, appointment scheduling, recommendations for renowned specialists, personal health records, health management, and vital signs monitoring. Without leaving home, users can simply press a single button to connect face-to-face with their family doctor, accessing proactive, immediate, and convenient medical and healthcare services.

At the press conference, Liao Jieyuan, founder of WeDoctor, stated that WeDoctor Cloud is an open, intelligent medical cloud platform. It empowers governments to implement family doctor contracting services, assists hospitals and physicians in enhancing their diagnostic and treatment capabilities, and collaborates with pharmaceutical companies, insurers, and other institutions to build a comprehensive healthcare industry chain. By strengthening China’s primary healthcare system, the platform aims to provide continuous, proactive, and end-to-end family health and medical services to hundreds of millions of Chinese households, ushering in a new era of family health in China.
