Siemens Healthineers and Tencent Sign Cooperation Agreement

In the presence of Siemens Healthineers Greater China President Zeng Fanzhong and Tencent Vice President Wang Bo, Jin Jianyong, Vice President of Service Business Systems at Siemens Healthineers Greater China, and Chen Guangyu, Vice President of Tencent’s Mobile Internet Group, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies.

Under this agreement, Siemens Healthineers’ Digital Services division will work closely with Tencent’s Internet Plus Cooperation Business Unit to enable the application and integration of the teamplay platform with Tencent Miying.

Both parties will jointly promote the enhancement of Tencent’s healthcare products and the development and integration of third-party applications on Teamplay, working together to build a comprehensive and leading Tencent healthcare system and Teamplay ecosystem, thereby establishing themselves as the leading platform for the informatization ecosystem in the healthcare industry.

The two parties will jointly promote the collaboration and application of Teamplay and Tencent Miying with medical institutions across China, developing new technologies, products, services, and business models tailored to the Chinese healthcare market. Furthermore, they will seek cooperation opportunities in international markets, joining forces to strengthen the entire global healthcare industry chain. In response to regulatory requirements concerning market access, qualification approvals, information security, and usage, both parties will also explore innovative commercial and operational models to better align with the broader regulatory environment governing China’s healthcare sector.

As a multinational giant in the medical device industry, Siemens Healthineers places significant emphasis on healthcare digitalization. In May this year, it launched teamplay, an imaging big data platform designed to enhance the image diagnostic capabilities of physicians at primary-care hospitals. The platform helps healthcare institutions rapidly and efficiently collect and analyze the vast amounts of data generated by imaging equipment, thereby optimizing operational efficiency and improving both clinical and financial performance.

Tencent, with its profound expertise in image recognition, big data processing, and deep learning, also launched its first AI-powered healthcare product, Tencent Miying, in August. This tool assists physicians in improving the accuracy and efficiency of screening for diseases such as esophageal cancer, pulmonary nodules, and diabetic retinopathy, thereby empowering primary healthcare institutions with specialist-level diagnostic capabilities comparable to those of top-tier Grade 3A hospitals.

On November 15, the Ministry of Science and Technology announced the first batch of national AI open innovation platforms, specifying that Tencent would be responsible for building the National AI Open Innovation Platform for Medical Imaging. The collaboration between Siemens and Tencent represents a concrete implementation of this national policy, which will further promote the integration of artificial intelligence into the healthcare sector, accelerate the adoption of AI in primary-care hospitals, and enable patients to receive better and more accessible treatment.

Mr. Zeng Fanzhong, President of Siemens Healthineers Greater China, stated, “The era of ‘medical imaging + artificial intelligence’ has arrived. The integration of these two technologies will play an immeasurable role in improving the accuracy of imaging diagnosis and promoting the sharing of medical resources.”

“Collaboration with Siemens Healthineers represents a new endeavor in leveraging ‘Internet Plus’ to empower healthcare, generating synergies that will undoubtedly exceed the sum of its parts,” said Chen Guangyu, Vice President of Tencent’s Mobile Internet Group. He noted that Tencent has always adhered to its original commitment to openness and empowerment, serving as a connector across various industries by making its platforms, products, and capabilities available to society at large. Tencent also welcomes more powerful partners like Siemens Healthineers to jointly strengthen this connective role and continuously inject momentum into the development of diverse sectors.
