On January 18, Yaoli, a startup focused on providing systemic solutions for hospitals through AI algorithms, announced the completion of its Pre-A financing round, raising tens of millions of yuan. This round was led by Yuanjing Capital. Grounded in real-world medical scenarios and practical needs, and built upon big data and medical theory integrated with artificial intelligence technologies, Yaoli provides data services and one-stop solutions for the healthcare sector.
Driven by market development, technological advancements, and policies promoting healthcare informatization, medical AI is gradually assuming a more significant role in hospital operations. However, due to the unique and complex nature of medical data, vast amounts of such data remain fragmented across the industry, with 80% failing to be effectively utilized. Furthermore, at present, physicians’ daily clinical work and research management still require substantial manual effort and time for data entry and organization.
Based on a deep understanding of the current state of the industry, Yaoli focuses on medical data for multiple single-disease conditions, leveraging artificial intelligence algorithms to provide SaaS products and build data platforms for clinical departments, ultimately enhancing quality control in both clinical management and departmental administration.
Currently, Yaoli leverages its independently developed Willow® series of application software to provide customized data integration and processing solutions for medical institutions, pharmaceutical companies, health insurance providers, and other organizations. These solutions have been effectively implemented in three departments: cardiology, hematology, and gynecology. Notably, Willow Lite integrates the Hospital Information System (HIS) and various departmental subsystems into a unified front-end interface, automatically categorizing, archiving, extracting, and indexing previously complex and hard-to-locate data, thereby reducing physicians’ data collection time by 75%.
In traditional settings, physicians are required to manually enter patient records and draft medical reports on a daily basis. With the Willow Inform and Willow Report systems from Yaoli, physicians can now automatically generate structured clinical notes in a short period and upload them to health information systems with a single click, adhering to standard formats.
During these use cases, the medical data generated each time a customer uses the Willow® front-end application is standardized and automatically transmitted to the back-end data center. The data center incorporates proprietary algorithms that analyze and process the aggregated massive datasets, thereby assisting physicians in scientific research and ultimately producing actionable data to support decision-making.
Yaoli has observed that existing data solutions are primarily focused on the single processing stage of data collection and cleansing, remaining relatively weak at the application level. Yaoli believes that the fundamental approach to resolving data challenges in the healthcare sector lies in rooting solutions deeply within the medical industry itself, leveraging artificial intelligence for backend data processing, and ultimately extending to frontend applications.
YaoLi’s team members hail from multidisciplinary fields including clinical medicine, telecommunications, computer science, and finance. Graduates of prestigious institutions such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, and the University of Wisconsin, they have accumulated extensive practical experience in artificial intelligence and big data, with deep expertise in vertical domains and cross-industry resource integration.
After more than two years of development, Willow has established a viable commercial loop encompassing data source acquisition, data platform construction, application scenarios, and customer acquisition. Its solutions are now deployed in multiple top-tier tertiary hospitals across China, including ultra-large general hospitals and renowned specialized hospitals. Through Willow, the efficiency of surgical workflow management in specialized departments has increased by nearly 70-fold, saving 9,000 minutes of operating room time per month.
As the accumulation of experience deepens and algorithms and conclusions become increasingly comprehensive, more advanced analytical applications will be explored, addressing greater demands for medical informatization such as clinical decision support, drug investigation, and precision medicine. Currently, Yaoli is collaborating with collaborative groups in relevant domestic fields to build a scientific research data platform leveraging Willow’s core technologies, thereby facilitating the generation of more critical achievements in the healthcare industry. Following this round of financing, the company will focus on deeper-level medical artificial intelligence, strengthen breakthroughs in core technologies, expand its market operations, and extend its coverage to hospitals and departments in more regions.
Tian Min, a partner at Yuanjing Capital and an investor in this round, stated that AI-driven healthcare is a high-potential sector for the future. By providing AI-based “SaaS+” solutions to specialized clinics, Yaoli quantifies vast amounts of medical data, helping clinicians improve the quality of care and offering decision support to administrators. “Yuanjing continues to focus on AI companies grounded in real-world clinical settings with comprehensive medical data analytics capabilities. These companies must not only have the ability to sustainably acquire data but also ensure that the data has clear, practical application pathways.”
