According to VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat), Yan Shu, a mid-to-high-end chain of clinics specializing in skin management and non-surgical medical aesthetics, has recently completed an A-round financing of tens of millions of RMB. The investor was Sinopharm Capital, a subsidiary of China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm). Qitian Chuangfu served as the exclusive financial advisor for this round of financing.

Following this round of financing, “Yanshu” will further leverage AI-driven diagnostics and the “Internet Plus” model to refine its service loop encompassing at-home skincare management, mid-to-high-end chain clinics, and Yanshu’s light medical aesthetics ecosystem. Additionally, by tapping into Sinopharm’s industrial resources and brand influence, it will continue to deepen its presence in the markets of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Shanghai.

“Yanshu” Medical Aesthetics, founded in 2011, has leveraged its self-sustaining growth and replication capabilities to establish seven medical aesthetic clinics (outpatient departments) across multiple cities in the Yangtze River Delta region, including Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Ningbo. Its core offerings include laser and photoelectric treatments, injectable procedures, and other medical aesthetic services. Some of “Yanshu”’s clinics are also qualified to perform cosmetic surgery, enabling them to provide minimally invasive surgical procedures alongside non-surgical treatments.

It is a typical representative of startups founded by renowned physician groups. Its founder, Song Weimin (Chief Physician), worked at Hangzhou Third People's Hospital for over two decades, serving as the Director of the Department of Dermatology and Laser Cosmetology. The Department of Dermatology at Hangzhou Third People's Hospital is one of the most authoritative public dermatological diagnosis and treatment institutions in China.

Currently, the medical team comprises nearly 20 members, all of whom are mid-career core physicians with over 10 years of clinical practice experience, recruited from renowned public and private hospitals. In addition, Yanshu has established its own training academy to provide continuous professional development for medical and nursing staff. Within Yanshu’s light medical aesthetics ecosystem, an integrated strategy leveraging AI and “Internet Plus” is implemented: the training academy supplies human resources to clinics and nursing centers; AI technologies and chain clinics deliver medical services; and “Internet Plus” extends these services to at-home skincare management, thereby creating a closed-loop service model.

At the clinical level, “Yanshu” integrates evidence-based medicine, precision medicine, preventive medicine, and integrative medicine into its comprehensive care workflow, establishing a standardized diagnostic and treatment system. In collaboration with its training academy, Yanshu has formed an integrated framework that combines clinical practice, scientific research, and education. To enable clients to access precise skin management in a more cost-effective manner and foster a preventive mindset, Yanshu, in addition to employing advanced medical devices, has jointly developed an AI-assisted skin detection system with Yan Yun, an AI healthcare company. This system provides physicians with intelligent solutions for addressing skin concerns.

In the realm of at-home skincare management, “Yanshu” is jointly developing intelligent hardware products for skin monitoring and management with YanYun, an AI healthcare company, and collaborating with renowned cosmetic brands to recommend suitable skincare products to customers.

Song Weimin believes that with the continuous rise in demand, non-surgical aesthetic procedures characterized by high safety and a strong emphasis on service experience have become the primary growth driver for the future of the medical aesthetics market. In the U.S. medical aesthetics market, non-surgical procedures account for 89% of the total. In recent years, the concept of non-surgical aesthetics has been increasingly gaining traction among Chinese consumers. “Yanshu” focuses on AI-guided skin management and non-surgical aesthetic treatments, placing significant emphasis on standardizing clinical experiences and management protocols. This approach reduces reliance on individual physicians’ experience and mitigates clinical risks. Therefore, “Yanshu” positions itself as a technology-driven provider of value-based medical aesthetics services.

Previously, “Yanshu” primarily relied on word-of-mouth marketing driven by value-based healthcare, with 80% of its clients acquired through referrals and minimal use of traffic-driven customer acquisition models. Following this round of financing, “Yanshu” will intensify its promotional efforts on traffic-generating platforms.

In addition, “Yanshu” willEstablish 15–20 new clinics (outpatient departments) in the coming years, while continuing to deepen our presence in the Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu markets.“We do not pursue the sheer number of clinics; instead, we are committed to continuously enhancing our clinical workflows, service experience, operational management, and talent development philosophy, refining Yanshu’s scalable chain operation and talent cultivation system to the highest level of efficiency and replicability,” said Song Weimin.

Mr. Zhuo Guangsong, Managing Director of Sinopharm Capital, stated, “We maintain close ties with leading enterprises and top-tier physician teams in the medical aesthetics sectors of the United States, South Korea, and the Taiwan region. China’s medical aesthetics industry continues to expand rapidly, having become one of the country’s mainstream consumer markets. Against the backdrop of increasingly stringent regulatory rectification policies and a restructuring of consumer mindsets driven by consumption upgrading, the previously irregular and unbridled growth model of the medical aesthetics industry will ultimately prove unsustainable. Dean Song’s team emphasizes returning to the core essence of medical value and prioritizing customer experience, while adhering to chain-based management and operational principles. This approach enables them to precisely grasp the key elements of industrial upgrading and secure a prominent position within the industry. Guided by our vision to support the healthy development of the medical aesthetics industry, we will continue to leverage channel resources within the Sinopharm Group—including exclusive domestically produced botulinum toxin products—implement an investment philosophy that integrates upstream and downstream linkages, and strategically deploy high-value medical aesthetic products and innovative services.”

Wu Yitian, Investment Banking Manager at Qitian Chuangfu, stated that against the backdrop of consumption upgrading, skin management and non-surgical medical aesthetics—characterized by a broader user base and higher frequency of visits—are inevitably becoming mainstream. Meanwhile, the star-studded team of physicians at Yanshu, which naturally attracts significant traffic, is precisely what we have been seeking. Qitian remains bullish on Yanshu’s advantages in talent management, brand operations, and other areas, as it strives to build China’s premier brand for skin management and non-surgical medical aesthetics.
