On March 12, VCBeat learned that Tide, another app designed for healthy sleep and focused living, secured an angel-round investment of several million RMB from Decent Capital.
The funds from this round will be primarily allocated to three areas: team building, market promotion, and product research and development.
Tide integrates the Pomodoro Technique, with its core philosophy centered on creating a dedicated space-time to help users relax, reduce stress in work and daily life, enhance productivity, and maintain focus and well-being.
In March 2016, Tide released version 1.0, offering five natural soundscapes: ocean waves, rain, forest, meditation, and café. These sounds enable users to relax and unwind amidst the soothing ambience of ocean waves, rain, forests, and other environments.
The recently updated version 2.0 of Tide has also categorized its sounds into scenarios, with one scenario being “Focus” and the other being “Sleep.”
Positioned as a Pomodoro timer and white noise app, it allows users to utilize either feature independently or in combination, helping them quickly focus on the tasks at hand.
Based on the most popular "Pomodoro Technique" on Zhihu, each session involves 25 minutes of focused work followed by a 5-minute break. This approach helps individuals maintain high levels of concentration during the 25-minute intervals, free from external distractions. Daily focus time is recorded.

In addition to its sleep aid and focus-enhancing features, the Tide team has developed a “Gentle Wake-Up” function, allowing users to gain insights into their sleep patterns through visualized data in the Tide Journal. From falling asleep to sleep monitoring and finally gentle awakening, users can complete a comprehensive sleep cycle with Tide.
It is reported that within 10 days of the release of Tide’s iOS 2.0 version, the app consecutively received Apple’s “App of the Day” feature and banner recommendations, accumulating a total of seven homepage features. It also broke into the top four of the overall free apps chart in Japan and topped the Health & Fitness chart in China. The Android version is currently being updated.
Based on feedback from publicly available user reviews, the time-sensitive greetings and daily push notifications featuring quotes and background images in the Tide app have been well received by users.
With its minimalist UI and premium user experience, the Tide app has reached 5 million users to date. Over 65% of its users are women, primarily concentrated in first- and second-tier cities, while 30% are overseas users.
