VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned, Recently, Zhiyun Health (formerly Zhangshang Tangyi) announced that it had secured strategic investment from Tianyi Investment Group, a leading investment group in China’s healthcare sector. This marks another round of financing disclosed by Zhiyun Health since last October, with the funding amounting to approximately RMB 100 million.

Meanwhile, Zhiyun Health signed a cooperation agreement with Meinian Onehealth Healthcare Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. (“Meinian Onehealth”), a listed company under Tianyi Investment and the leading enterprise in China’s health checkup industry. The two parties reached a consensus on screening, diagnosis, treatment, post-examination services for chronic diseases, as well as research on in-hospital and out-of-hospital management of chronic diseases, aiming to jointly create ““Internet-based Post-examination Services for Chronic Diseases”New Model.

This marks the beginning of the extension of chronic disease management in China from hospital settings to health checkup scenarios, representing an essential step toward building a comprehensive preventive healthcare system.

Zhiyun Health, formerly known as Zhangshang Tangyi, was established in December 2014. Over the three years since its founding, the platform has amassed more than 5 million registered users, consistently leading industry trends. It has achieved coverage in over 500 hospitals and generated RMB 200 million in revenue. Last November, Zhiyun completed a brand upgrade and integrated its subsidiary business products, formally expanding from a single-disease focus on diabetes to the broader field of chronic disease management. The upgraded Zhiyun Health has not only raised the ceiling for comprehensive chronic disease management but also ushered in greater development opportunities in data processing and product design.

By signing with the Meinian Platform, Zhiyun Health will join hands with its partners to create a “super closed loop” of health services, leveraging its network of over 400 offline health examination centers and an annual traffic of more than 20 million examinees.

According to public data, China’s population aged 65 and above was projected to exceed 160 million by 2020. Chronic diseases among the elderly and the trend of chronic conditions affecting younger populations have shown a significant upward trajectory. Taking diabetes as an example, the number of diabetic patients in China reached 110 million in 2015, with a prevalence rate of 11.6% among adults aged 18 and older, and 50.1% of the population identified as being at high risk for diabetes. As a category of diseases characterized by high incidence, disability, and mortality rates, chronic diseases not only jeopardize patients’ health but also impose substantial burdens on families and society, while significantly straining national healthcare insurance cost-containment efforts.

In response to this series of unresolved challenges, the state has successively introduced policies and measures for chronic disease management, with the report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China reiterating the “Healthy China” national strategy centered on “prevention first.”

Facing the challenging field of chronic disease management, Kuang Ming, CEO of Zhiyun Health, believes that a proactive upstream strategy should be adopted, shifting the focus of prevention and control to an earlier stage. Providing comprehensive treatment and health management for individuals at high risk of chronic diseases is a key direction for Zhiyun Health’s business development in the next phase. The future transformation of chronic disease care models will ultimately help patients improve their quality of life, delay the onset of overt symptoms, and mitigate the progression toward severe complications.

Regarding the opportunities for cooperation between the two parties,Yu Rong, Chairman of Tianyi Investment Group and Meinian OnehealthMr. stated: “Investing in Zhiyun Health represents an industry-driven strategy that emerged to address the pain points of post-examination chronic disease management and alleviate the imbalance in high-quality medical resources.“, it is a beneficial attempt to promote China’s preventive medicine in obtaining more professional comprehensive health services in areas such as post-examination extension, precise assessment, intelligent diagnosis, and chronic disease management, which aligns with Meinian Onehealth’s development strategy of upgrading from a single specialized physical examination institution to a comprehensive medical service provider.”

In China’s health checkup market, which is predominantly public-sector driven, traditional checkups typically conclude with the issuance of a multi-page report, occasionally supplemented by dietary, nutritional, and exercise prescriptions. However, they fail to provide substantive follow-up on the various health risks identified in examinees. Constraints such as inadequate tools and a disconnected service chain between pre- and post-checkup stages leave individuals at high risk for chronic diseases with unresolved health vulnerabilities.

On why we initially took a fancy to Zhiyun Health and continued to invest in multiple successive rounds.Li Wengang, Founding Partner of Zhongwei Fund“Here’s how I see it: What attracted me was not just Kuang Ming, the founder with his clear mind and decisive decision-making, but more importantly, the united, complementary, and highly execution-driven Internet + Healthcare team he has built. This is precisely why Zhangshang Tangyi (Pocket Diabetes Doctor) was able to deploy its services in nearly 500 hospitals within just 20 months, accumulating close to one billion health data records annually, thereby becoming China’s largest chronic disease management and data platform.”

In providing post-examination chronic disease management services, Zhiyun Health will implement targeted prevention and control measures for relevant chronic conditions. This means that every Meinian Onehealth user, upon completing their health examination, will have the opportunity—particularly those in high-risk groups—to access effective chronic disease risk solutions provided by Zhiyun Health. By reaching every high-risk individual identified through health screenings, Zhiyun Health delivers personalized, practical, and lifestyle-integrated health guidance. This constitutes a core component of enhancing post-examination health services and represents a significant step toward ushering chronic disease management into the era of “post-examination care.”
