On April 21, WeDoctor General Practice Centers in Beijing’s Xidan and Nanjing’s Yuhua districts officially opened their doors. This marks the expansion of WeDoctor General Practice Centers into two additional cities, one year after the launch of its first flagship center in Hangzhou in 2017. Residents in these two cities can now access comprehensive health services, including health maintenance, disease diagnosis and treatment, and rehabilitation management, through an integrated “online + offline” and “general practice + specialty care” model. As the offline physical medical institutions of WeDoctor, a healthcare technology platform, WeDoctor General Practice Centers are advancing standardized, large-scale deployment across China. By leveraging partnerships with more than 2,700 hospitals and a network of 220,000 online experts, WeDoctor continues to strengthen its capacity to deliver comprehensive population health services—evolving from linear connections to broad coverage—and is building a Chinese-style Health Maintenance Organization (HMO).
As a key component of WeDoctor’s HMO service system, WeDoctor General Practice is dedicated to delivering convenient, human-centric, and value-driven experiential medical services. Unlike traditional medical institutions, WeDoctor General Practice targets families, enterprises, and communities, adopting a membership-based service model. It establishes electronic health records for members and leverages wearable devices and smart health terminals to provide proactive health management services, including continuous monitoring of vital signs. In addition to basic general practice and specialized diagnostic and treatment services, it primarily promotes health service products, such as individual/family premium health plans, high-end health check-up plans, and specialized health services including breast and cervical cancer screening for women and oral health packages.
Over the past two years, the State Council has successively issued a series of supportive policies on private healthcare provision, the development of general practice, and “Internet + Healthcare,” effectively promoting the establishment and growth of new-type general practice medical institutions. WeDoctor General Practice (Beijing Xidan) Center is located in the Xidan International Building, adjacent to core areas such as Chang’an Avenue and the Financial Street; WeDoctor General Practice (Nanjing Yuhua) Center is situated on Software Avenue in Yuhua District, Nanjing, serving as the “gatekeeper” for the Yuhua service ecosystem and the development of a healthy southern Nanjing.

The two newly opened WeDoctor General Practice Centers continue to adhere to Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation standards. They offer comprehensive departments including general practice, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and dentistry, as well as an international teleconsultation center and diagnostic imaging and laboratory services. Additionally, these centers provide specialized services such as green-channel referrals to local Grade 3A hospitals and consultations with top-tier hospitals across China for patients from various regions.
Recently, WeDoctor General Practice has launched its self-developed Cloud Hospital Information System (Cloud HIS). Built on a SaaS model, the WeDoctor Cloud HIS enables data interoperability across multiple terminals, helping members establish cloud-based health records and deliver personalized health management powered by big data. WeDoctor General Practice centers across China leverage the Cloud HIS to achieve full-process business collaboration, standardized clinical workflows, and intelligent management in the cloud. In the future, the general practice clinical decision support system, jointly developed by WeDoctor, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Zhejiang University, and other academic institutions, will be deployed in primary healthcare institutions, including WeDoctor General Practice centers.
The key to WeDoctor General Practice’s rapid replication across China lies in its adherence to the “4S” standards for family health services: Satisfaction, Standard, Support, and Sharing. On March 19, 2017, the first WeDoctor General Practice Center opened, bridging the last mile in integrating online and offline internet-based medical services. After more than a year of operations, WeDoctor General Practice has refined its capabilities in infrastructure configuration, institutional processes, medical safety, and service quality, thereby accelerating its deployment in first-tier cities such as Beijing and Nanjing.
“WeDoctor General Practice is committed to building a ‘4S dealership’ for health services. Only by adhering to high-standard service and quality systems across concepts, environment, equipment, technology, functions, service offerings, and operations can we provide users with a coherent and continuous health experience,” said He Chao, CEO of WeDoctor Medical and Dean of WeDoctor General Practice. The heads of the Beijing and Nanjing centers, along with most physicians and nursing staff, come from renowned Grade 3A hospitals and outstanding community health service centers. Furthermore, collaborations have been established with specialized departments of leading domestic Grade 3A hospitals, as well as overseas second-opinion platforms such as Infinite MD and Yuesheng, to ensure the “health gatekeeper” service system is built in strict accordance with international standards.
On the opening day, five specialists in general practice, endocrinology, cardiology, nephrology, and colorectal surgery from WeDoctor General Practice’s centers in Hangzhou, Beijing, Nanjing, and Chengdu conducted a multidisciplinary team (MDT) consultation for Mr. Huang from Hangzhou via the WeDoctor teleconsultation platform. Additionally, 15 experts from Beijing and Nanjing offered 100 free consultation slots, allowing one hundred patients to experience WeDoctor General Practice’s diagnostic and treatment services. Professor David Law, Special Advisor to WeDoctor General Practice in the United States, and Director Yao Yuan from Beijing Children’s Hospital jointly delivered an online and offline health lecture through the WeDoctor Online Lecture Series. Executives from multiple enterprises and institutions in Beijing and Nanjing gained in-depth experience with WeDoctor General Practice’s innovative healthcare services.
In 2018, WeDoctor General Practice Centers will also successively open in Jinan, Chengdu, Wuhan, Ningbo, and other cities. Liao Jieyuan, Chairman of WeDoctor, stated that over the next three years, WeDoctor will accelerate the export of standardized construction and operational capabilities for its general practice centers, aiming to establish 100 general practice institutions through open models such as self-built, franchised, and entrusted management. By comprehensively leveraging technologies including Internet+, remote devices, and artificial intelligence, WeDoctor aims to provide innovative healthcare services to individuals, families, and communities, positioning itself as a leader in China’s “Internet+ Family Medicine” sector.
