On May 24, 2018, DXY’s biomedical business information platform, Dingxiangtong, celebrated its 10th anniversary. On the same day, the 2018 China Biopharmaceutical Enterprise Development Conference and the Dingxiangtong 10th Anniversary Summit were grandly held. Centered on the theme “Collaborating to Innovate the Future,” the conference focused on industry development and corporate management, bringing together peers from biopharmaceutical companies for in-depth discussion and exchange.

Focusing on Clinical Practice and Scientific Research

At 9:00 a.m., Wang Hui, Head of the Brand Marketing Business Group at DXY, delivered the opening address, introducing the growth trajectory and future vision of Dingxiangtong and officially kicking off the conference. Leading figures from the medical, corporate, and investment sectors convened through keynote speeches and panel discussions to deliberate on focal topics in clinical research and the biopharmaceutical industry.

For a long time, the weight given to the quality and quantity of scientific research outputs in the evaluation system for physicians in China has been substantial and widely debated. In his speech titled “Refined Management of Clinical Research and Big Data Thinking,” Zhu Zhitu, Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinzhou Medical University, stated that in the era of big data, the exponential growth in the volume of medical data presents new opportunities for physicians to conduct clinical research. He emphasized that addressing the disconnect between clinical practice and scientific research requires adhering to the principle that “research must follow clinical practice, and physicians must follow their patients.”

Dr. Wu Hao, Deputy Director of Strategy and Business Development for Roche Diagnostics Asia Pacific, started from the most common work scenarios of clinicians—diagnosis and treatment of diseases—and pointed out that integrated, personalized, and precise products and services have become a popular field pursued by capital, while also helping to alleviate the huge unmet needs of patients.

Li Tiantian, founder and chairman of DXY, shared in his speech the latest advancements in a novel artificial intelligence algorithm—Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs)—and their applications in healthcare. He also introduced China’s first AI-assisted diagnostic system for dermatological diseases, which was recently launched in collaboration with the Second Xiangya Hospital and Ruiqi Software.

In the subsequent roundtable session, Li Tiantian engaged in a lively discussion with senior investor Wang Jin; Xie Hongyan, Director of Marketing and Solutions for GE Healthcare Life Sciences; Su Zhongmei, Director of Roche Diagnostics’ Life Sciences Division; Cai Ping, Vice President of 3D Medicines; and Du Hui, Director of Product and Brand Development at Sinocare. The panel focused on the topic “The Impact of Policy Environment Changes on the Biotechnology Industry,” exchanging insights on the profound implications of major policies introduced in recent years for various stakeholders in the biopharmaceutical sector, as well as strategies to address these changes.

Connecting Clients and Users

As the platform with the strongest e-commerce attributes within DXY’s product matrix, Dingxiangtong conducts annual surveys targeting the research sector, focusing on user procurement behaviors. Chen Kaiqi, Senior Brand Consultant at DXY, presented the highly informative “Report on Procurement Behaviors of Research Users in the Biopharmaceutical Field & Upgrading of Dingxiangtong’s Product Service System.” This report holds significant reference value for companies serving the scientific research community.

Currently, physicians are not only increasingly relying on digital platforms for the procurement of reagents and consumables; in fact, every aspect of their professional and personal lives is becoming increasingly enveloped by the wave of digitalization. As highlighted in the presentation titled “The Real State of Chinese Physicians and Patients in a Digital Environment,” delivered by Chen Shiwen, Senior Marketing Manager of the Enterprise Cooperation Division at DXY, digitalization has long become the norm for physicians, with a comprehensive shift from PC-based to mobile-based platforms in recent years.

Not long ago, DXY announced the completion of its Series D financing round, with a valuation exceeding $1 billion, officially entering the ranks of unicorns. As an angel investor in DXY’s early startup phase, Wang Jin possesses unique insights into the development and dynamics of the biopharmaceutical sector. His presentation at this summit, titled “Investment Hotspots and Trends in Biopharmaceutical Enterprises,” offered valuable lessons to attendees.

Li Tiantian, Founder and Chairman of DXY, stated that he hopes DXY Tong will continue to make significant strides in the vertical e-commerce sector for biomedicine while maintaining curiosity and staying attuned to cutting-edge developments. Starting with product and service offerings, then expanding into enterprise services, the platform aims to ultimately achieve industry-level innovation.
