Against the backdrop of the “Internet Plus” era, philanthropy is transitioning from traditional models to new forms.
On May 28, 2018, the “Medical Poverty Alleviation” platform—an innovative “Internet + Public Welfare” model for primary healthcare jointly developed by Yidebang and the Mango V Foundation—was officially launched on the Yidebang platform.

“Medical Poverty Alleviation” is an extension and expansion of the “2017 Grassroots Medical Public Welfare Program,” a public welfare initiative launched by the Mango V Foundation of Hunan Broadcasting System. Aimed at responding to the national call for poverty alleviation, this comprehensive public welfare project mobilizes public resources from across society to assist impoverished families, vulnerable groups, and families of left-behind children in poverty-stricken areas. Through various measures—including donations of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals, development of grassroots healthcare service networks, and financial aid for serious illnesses—the project seeks to address and mitigate poverty caused or exacerbated by illness.
“When the ambulance siren wails, a year’s pig-rearing profits vanish.” In some impoverished rural areas, this phenomenon is all too real: if one member of a family that has recently escaped poverty falls ill, the household can easily slip back into destitution. Statistical data show that illness-induced poverty and relapse into poverty remain significant contributors to rural impoverishment.
To further advance public welfare initiatives in primary healthcare and fulfill corporate social responsibility, Yidebang entered into a strategic partnership with the Mango V Foundation in early 2018. In addition to donating RMB 500,000 in cash and the “Yidebang Clinic System” valued at RMB 3.2 million, both parties actively explored the creation of a new “Internet + Public Welfare” model for primary care, aiming to establish an open, transparent, and efficient “Internet + Public Welfare” platform for grassroots medical services.
Leveraging the social welfare resources of the Mango V Fund and the internet healthcare advantages of Yidebang, and following extensive research into the needs for the development of grassroots medical philanthropy, the “Medical Poverty Alleviation” public welfare project has officially launched online.
While leveraging the high efficiency, convenience, strong interactivity, and transparency of “Internet + Philanthropy” platforms, we aim to innovate management models for online philanthropic initiatives, striving to build a grassroots healthcare “Internet + Philanthropy” platform that is socially recognized and publicly favored. By establishing a philanthropic bridge for grassroots healthcare, we encourage broader public participation in and sharing of charitable efforts. Harnessing the power of internet platforms, we seek to attract more individuals and organizations to join these initiatives, thereby advancing the development of philanthropy in China’s grassroots healthcare sector.
Going forward, applications for the "Mango V Fund Grassroots Medical Aid" can be submitted directly through the Yidebang official website. The public welfare initiatives initially launched include: Grassroots Good Doctors, Public Welfare Material Requests, Weekly Acts of Kindness, and Oncology Public Welfare Fund.
Jiang Qiang, CEO of Mingyi Zhonghe, stated that Premier Li Keqiang had called for “better meeting public needs through ‘Internet + Healthcare’” when deploying the implementation of the health poverty alleviation project at the State Council’s executive meeting. This further collaboration with the Mango V Fund represents not only our fulfillment of social responsibility through philanthropy but also our inherent mission and commitment. Accelerating the development of grassroots medical philanthropy is of great significance to improving the grassroots healthcare poverty alleviation system and implementing the “health poverty alleviation” initiative outlined in the Healthy China 2030 Planning Outline.
The development of primary healthcare in rural areas is vital to the health of nearly 800 million rural residents in China. Yidebang has always been committed to empowering grassroots village doctors and serving public health through an integrated “healthcare + internet” model, providing comprehensive support across medication services, diagnostic capabilities, daily management, and clinical treatment capacity. “Public welfare empowerment” is an indispensable component of strengthening grassroots healthcare and a key embodiment of Yidebang’s core philosophy of “empowerment, sharing, and restructuring.” We will spare no effort in advancing this new “internet + public welfare” model for primary healthcare.
The launch of the “Medical Poverty Alleviation” project, jointly developed with the Mango V Foundation, has established a robust complementary development model combining “Internet + Philanthropy” in grassroots healthcare. This initiative effectively implements medical poverty alleviation at the local level, embodying the fundamental objective of leveraging internet-based medical services to support grassroots healthcare. By introducing an innovative management model for internet-enabled philanthropic operations, this project accelerates the development of public welfare initiatives in grassroots healthcare, expands the scope of social assistance through institutional and systemic improvements, and enhances the efficiency of philanthropic management.
Moving forward, Jiang Qiang will continue to invest more resources to contribute to the development of primary healthcare. While empowering grassroots physicians, he also aims to benefit more disadvantaged families at the community level, fulfilling Yidebang’s social responsibility by fully implementing the “Internet + Public Welfare” model in primary care and contributing his share to this cause.
Public welfare initiatives require collective participation, and grassroots medical public welfare efforts need the contribution of primary care physicians.
