Hua Yutao, Director of the Division of Chemical Drugs and Medical Devices at the China National Center for Biotechnology Development, stated at a press conference that the China Medical Device Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is an innovation contest highly valued by the Ministry of Science and Technology. It aims to stimulate the innovative vitality of enterprises and medical professionals, strengthen the integration of innovation with clinical applications and capital, deepen collaboration across all segments of the medical device industry—including academia, research, production, application, financing, and regulation—and establish a more efficient and practical innovation service platform.Promote the continuous innovative development of China’s medical device industry, driving its evolution from small to large and then to strong, and advancing from “manufacturing” to “creation.”

As a key member of the MEDICAlliance, the global medical exhibition series centered around MEDICA in Düsseldorf, the China International Medical Device Innovation Exhibition (MFC 2018) was co-organized by Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and the National Medical Device Industry Technology Innovation Service Alliance. With the full support of Messe Düsseldorf Group, the exhibition brought MEDICA’s successful experience and professional expertise to the event.

MFC2018 is not a conventional finished-product exhibition; instead, it consolidates all stakeholders and segments of the medical device innovation industry chain within a single venue. In addition to showcasing innovative and newly launched products, the event features dedicated zones highlighting innovative service resources, translational research achievements from domestic and international research institutes and research-oriented hospitals, investment climates of major industrial parks in China, as well as upstream raw materials and components. The exhibition is expected to attract approximately 12,000 visitors, including global distributors, healthcare institutions, universities, and research organizations.

It is reported that more than 200 exhibitor groups from enterprises, research institutes, hospitals, and industrial parks have been confirmed for the Innovation Week. Meanwhile, over a dozen overseas institutions and research organizations are currently engaged in exhibition and business negotiations. The final number of participating enterprises is expected to exceed 400.

The three keynote forums accompanying “Medical Device Innovation” Week—the 2018 China Medical Device Summit (DeviceChina 2018), the 2018 China International Medical Device Innovation Forum (CMIF 2018), and the 2018 China Medical Device Translational Medicine and Innovation Services Forum (TMIS 2018)—will cover more than 20 thematic symposia,Key focus areas include cardiovascular and cerebrovascular devices, imaging equipment, oncology-related instruments, surgical and orthopedic devices, medical AI, in vitro diagnostics (IVD), and the translation of medical research achievements. This approach analyzes the collaborative mechanisms among industry, academia, research institutions, sales channels, healthcare providers, service providers, and investors within the medical device innovation ecosystem from multiple perspectives, jointly promoting the commercialization of innovative outcomes.

It is expected to invite 10–20 domestic speakers at the academician level and 30–50 overseas guests; solicit more than 300 high-quality innovative projects from home and abroad to participate in the competition or roadshows; attract over 400 R&D and manufacturing enterprises of innovative medical devices from home and abroad; engage more than 30 well-known innovative service institutions and over 200 prominent investment firms from both domestic and international markets.
