VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned that on June 18, at the third-anniversary celebration of the Xingxiangyuan Doctor Co-Creation Platform, Xingxiangyuan signed strategic cooperation agreements with PICC Health’s Zhejiang Branch (hereinafter referred to as “PICC Health”) and Huzhou Central Hospital. The parties will leverage their respective strengths to address pain points in public health needs and current market conditions, engaging in in-depth collaboration in areas such as chronic disease management, medical insurance, and healthcare services.

Xingxiangyuan and PICC Health Launch “Health Management + Insurance” Combo Strategy

As planned, Xingxiangyuan will provide health management services to customers of PICC Health, including daily dynamic health monitoring, follow-up tracking and record-keeping, medical care assurance, and tiered diagnosis and treatment. By leveraging the “prevention-and-treatment-integrated” health management philosophy and technologies, these services aim to reduce PICC Health’s claim payouts. In addition, both parties will collaborate to explore and develop a comprehensive solution for health management and health management insurance. Supported by a practical and feasible medical and health service system, they will create exclusive services and protection products tailored to specific population groups. Furthermore, the two parties will gradually integrate their respective customer electronic health record (EHR) data to conduct big data analytics, researching and applying insights into disease incidence trends, changes in healthcare-seeking behaviors, and product/service pricing strategies.

Examining the relatively mature health management operational models and security systems in developed countries, collaboration between insurance companies and third-party health management firms can effectively enhance customer service experience and achieve significant results in disease and cost control. In light of the current state of China’s broader health sector, how can the relatively independent markets of healthcare and health insurance achieve effective integration and shared value? Health management services are an indispensable component in this process.

As the first physician crowdsourcing platform in China to secure RMB 100 million in financing, Xingxiangyuan has continuously explored the field of health management. Leveraging its dozen-plus physician groups specializing in cardiology, VIP gastroenterology, pain management, and medical imaging, along with abundant medical resources, the company has gradually established a comprehensive health management service system covering the entire life cycle. This system includes postpartum care centers, maternal and child health management, chronic disease management, and premium health management services. PICC Health, a specialized subsidiary of the People’s Insurance Company (Group) of China, has been deeply engaged in the health insurance sector for over a decade, accumulating extensive experience in the development of precise health insurance products and the analysis of user health data.

Leveraging the respective strengths of the broader health sector and the financial insurance industry was the key factor that made the collaboration between Xingxiangyuan and PICC Health an instant success. Xia Jian’ou, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of PICC Health’s Zhejiang Branch, stated that the partnership between PICC Health and Xingxiangyuan represents an exploration by a health insurer in the field of chronic disease management. Professional health insurance companies can play roles in risk regulation and payment, striving to address the issue of consumers’ willingness to pay for “health management,” while professional health management companies can effectively implement the goal of “managing people’s health well.” This constitutes both the opportunity and the shared aspiration behind the collaboration between PICC Health and Xingxiangyuan.

At the anniversary celebration, Xingxiangyuan also signed a cooperation agreement with Huzhou Central Hospital, with both parties focusing on collaboration in chronic disease management projects. Under the agreement, Xingxiangyuan will assist Huzhou Central Hospital in establishing resident health records, export its chronic disease management model, improve and help operate the Chronic Disease Management Center, and provide support from expert resources within the Xingxiangyuan Physician Group, while establishing a two-way referral channel.

Niu Furong, President of Huzhou Central Hospital, stated that the “Chronic Disease Management Project” submitted by Huzhou Central Hospital has been included in the list of the Zhejiang Provincial Health Commission’s Center for Cultivation and Promotion of Practical New Technologies and Appropriate Technologies. After comprehensive evaluation and comparison, it was determined that Xingxiangyuan’s chronic disease management project features both high-level theoretical research and practical, implementable models, providing robust support for the operation of Huzhou Central Hospital’s Chronic Disease Management Center. It is hoped that collaboration with communities and Xingxiangyuan will help address challenges in chronic disease management, thereby benefiting the general public.

It is reported that Xingxiangyuan’s chronic disease management project primarily achieves resource sharing through a collaborative model involving government bodies, communities, and primary care hospitals. To date, it has established a chronic disease management model that is “visible, tangible, and replicable.” Xingxiangyuan’s team of health managers creates individual health records for each user, which are linked to the Xingxiangyuan Data Center via smart devices to enable continuous monitoring of relevant health indicators. This framework facilitates multi-party co-management involving users, family members, health managers, and community physicians, allowing community doctors and patients’ families to stay informed in real time about patient information and monitor their health status. Furthermore, leveraging the extensive expert resources of the Xingxiangyuan Physician Group, the company provides online referral services when necessary and establishes expedited access to medical care. In May this year, Xingxiangyuan also partnered with the Zhoushan Municipal Government on a project for the refined management of hypertension patients.
