Enrolling Now: A Three-Day Immersive Program at Alibaba HQ on Healthcare Digital Transformation

Jun 20, 2018 08:00 CST Updated 08:00

“The Father of Management Philosophy,” Charles Handy, elaborates on his “Second Curve Theory” as follows: One must begin before the first curve reaches its peak; only in this way will there be sufficient resources to offset the initial investment. This also implies that sometimes, by the time you finally know where to head, the opportunity has already been lost forever.

How to accurately seize opportunities and position oneself ahead of the curve before the first growth cycle peaks—no one surpasses Jack Ma in this regard. The nearly two decades since Alibaba’s founding have coincided with the hyper-accelerated global shift toward internet connectivity and digitalization. With remarkable strategic foresight, Jack Ma has consistently positioned himself at the critical junctures of each era, invariably emerging as a pioneer and disruptor of his time.

For instance, the B2B business launched in 1999 capitalized on the golden decade of China’s foreign trade; Taobao, established in 2003, laid the foundation for Alibaba’s strategic shift from export-oriented to domestic sales in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis; in 2009, Jack Ma strongly advocated for the establishment of Alibaba Cloud, a move that the entire industry failed to comprehend at the time. The initial years of Alibaba Cloud were extremely challenging, with one-third of the team being replaced every two years and several near-abandonments. It was not until 2012 that Alibaba Cloud began offering external services, ultimately achieving its current market share that surpasses the combined total of the second through fifth largest players.

Now, Alibaba Cloud has become the most powerful weapon for Alibaba's comprehensive entry into the digital era. What our course aims to explore is:

1. As an entrepreneur, how can one cultivate strategic vision, elevate their perspective, and confront the resulting challenges?

2. As the owner and helmsman of a traditional enterprise, how can you promptly identify a new course for your company’s journey?

3. How to draw inspiration from Alibaba’s entrepreneurial history and its underlying organizational culture management strategies.

4. Opportunities, Challenges, and Solutions for Digital Transformation in Healthcare.

5. In the era of the digital economy, what kind of operating system and innovative DNA are required to achieve breakthroughs in the new healthcare industry?
