According to VCBeat, Wuxi is the only National Sensor Network Innovation Demonstration Zone in China approved by the State Council. Since 2010, it has successfully hosted the China International Internet of Things (Sensor Network) Conference annually. Starting in 2016, the China International Internet of Things Conference was successfully upgraded to the World Internet of Things Exposition (abbreviated as: IoT Expo).

The China IoT Expo is the highest-profile and largest national-level exposition in China’s Internet of Things (IoT) sector, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province, and co-organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Commission of Economy and Informatization, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and the People’s Government of Wuxi City.

As early as April 15, the Organizing Committee of the World Internet of Things Exposition issued an approval confirming that the National Hospital IoT Conference was included in the series of events of the World Internet of Things Exposition.

According to reports, the so-called Internet of Things (IoT) refers to an intelligent, interconnected network system that integrates all products and items worldwide into a framework that is queryable, trackable, selectable, traceable, and manageable. It represents another great revolution following the industrial and information technology revolutions, poised to spawn dozens of trillion-dollar economic markets and serve as a “driver” and “productive force” for global economic growth and human social progress. Data indicates that within the overall IoT market, healthcare IoT is the second-largest application sector, accounting for approximately 30.3%, second only to industrial IoT.

Shen Chongde, Standing Committee Member of the Health Information Standards Professional Committee under the Chinese Health Information Association, Head of the Medical IoT Standards Group, and Vice President of Wuxi People’s Hospital, believes that after years of application and development, the field of Internet of Things (IoT) in domestic hospitals has reached a considerable scale, encompassing various aspects including identity recognition, patient safety positioning, data acquisition, and asset and supply management.

Common solutions include connecting doctors, nurses, patients, equipment, and medications within hospitals to achieve full-process traceability of patient diagnosis, treatment, nursing care, surgery, and medication administration. This enhances patient safety during medical visits, improves the efficiency of healthcare professionals, and enables more intelligent hospital management.

At the press conference, Ms. Xiong Cuiju, Vice President of Shenzhen Lianxin Mobile Healthcare Technology Co., Ltd., described to the attending media a scene commonly seen in many science fiction films: a nurse scans a patient with a tablet-like device using light, and the patient’s health status is instantly displayed on the screen with ease. She stated, “Although it may not be as dazzling as in sci-fi movies, smart hospital wards have quietly entered hospitals as Internet of Things (IoT) technology continues to mature.”

A prominent feature of this National Hospital IoT Conference was its emphasis on internationalization, with experts and scholars from nearly 10 countries, including Japan, the United Kingdom, and Germany, invited to participate. Meanwhile, the conference maintained a high level of professionalism by bringing together industry leaders, experts, scholars, and key decision-makers from China’s healthcare IoT sector to offer insights and recommendations. Focusing on cutting-edge industry trends and driving innovative development, the event demonstrated substantial professional depth.

During the three-day conference commencing on October 19, the focus will be on three major segments: the main and sub-forums scheduled for this National Hospital Internet of Things (IoT) Conference, the China International Hospital IoT Products Exhibition, and the launch of globally leading innovative IoT technological achievements in medical systems. Within the expansive 40,000-square-meter exhibition area at the Taihu International Expo Center, the National Hospital IoT Conference has established six themed exhibition zones: “Hospital IoT Development Strategy Zone,” “Hospital IoT Construction and Operations & Maintenance Zone,” “Hospital Management and Health Big Data Zone,” “Smart Healthcare Zone,” “Hospital Logistics Transmission Zone,” and “New Hospital IoT Product Launch Zone.”

The National Hospital Internet of Things Conference featured a total of 40 main and parallel forums, covering cutting-edge topics on the current status and development trends of hospital IoT both domestically and internationally, such as “Hospital IoT Applications” and “Internet Innovation in Healthcare Systems.” Notably, the “Academician Special Session” invited Mr. Fan Jia, an academician of the Division of Life Sciences and Medicine at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to deliver a keynote address on the theme “New Opportunities and Challenges Brought by Artificial Intelligence to Healthcare.” Other parallel forums, including “A Type of Healthcare Called ‘Tencent’ Healthcare,” “Alibaba Cloud and IoT-Enabled Hospitals,” and “The Wave of IoT Technological Revolution,” are sure to greatly intrigue industry professionals.

It is estimated that this National Hospital IoT Conference will attract more than 5,000 representatives from hospitals across China and 350 exhibitors from medical IoT manufacturing companies, with total attendance exceeding 50,000.
