The team has spearheaded the establishment of multiple national-level research and data platforms, including the National Engineering Laboratory for Internet Medical Systems and Applications, the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Mobile Medical Technology and Services, and the Henan Branch of the National Medical Data Center. It has achieved numerous “zero-to-one” breakthroughs in major scientific and technological projects and national-level technology platforms within Henan Province’s healthcare sector, exerting significant influence both domestically and internationally in fields such as telemedicine and healthcare big data. The team has undertaken key livelihood projects mandated by the Henan Provincial People’s Government and priority practical livelihood initiatives directed by the Henan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, yielding substantial social and economic benefits. It has undertaken 21 national and provincial/ministerial-level projects, including the development of national health information standards; a key special project under the National Key R&D Program for “Precision Medicine Research” (titled “Construction and Promotion of a Comprehensive Service Demonstration System for Precision Medicine Based on Telemedicine/Mobile Healthcare Networks,” with central government funding of RMB 39.81 million); the National Science and Technology Benefit-the-People Program; the Central Government Special Fund for Guiding Local Scientific and Technological Development; Henan Province’s Major Science and Technology Projects; and projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The total approved research funding exceeds RMB 100 million.
Professor Zhao Jie, the academic leader, is a Grade-II Professor, a recipient of the State Council’s Special Allowance, a winner of the National May 1st Labor Medal, and an expert with outstanding contributions among young and middle-aged professionals recognized by the National Health and Family Planning Commission. He also serves as a review expert for key national R&D programs and projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Currently, he holds the positions of Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, Director of the National Telemedicine Center, Director of the National Engineering Laboratory for Internet Medical Systems and Applications, and Director of the Henan Provincial Engineering Research Center for Digital Medical Technology. Additionally, he holds several professional society roles, including Chairman of the Telemedicine Informatics Professional Committee under the Chinese Society of Health Information and Big Data in Healthcare, Chairman of the Clinical Pharmacy Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and Executive Vice Chairman of the China Health Internet + Telemedicine Alliance. He has long been dedicated to research and practice in health and medical informatics engineering, telemedicine and internet-based healthcare, medical big data, and precision medicine. He has led the development of two national health industry standards and participated in three others; published 16 academic monographs and textbooks; obtained 32 national software copyrights; and filed 16 national invention patents. He has published more than 180 academic papers, co-edited one volume titled *Technical Guidelines for the Construction of National Telemedicine Information Systems (2014)*, and received seven provincial or ministerial-level awards, including the First Prize of the Chinese Medical Association’s Scientific and Technological Progress Award and the First Prize of Henan Province’s Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
To meet the needs of scientific research and clinical translation, Professor Zhao Jie’s team, relying on platforms such as the National Engineering Laboratory for Internet Healthcare Systems and Applications and the National Telemedicine Center, is sincerely recruiting six postdoctoral fellows (2018) who are committed to research fields including internet healthcare, telemedicine/mobile health, medical big data, artificial intelligence, and precision medicine. The initiative aims to cultivate a group of high-level, influential scientific research leaders both domestically and internationally through rigorous postdoctoral training characterized by “high standards, strict requirements, and strong support,” as well as through the implementation of major national science and technology projects.
