China Health Medical Big Data Industry Innovation Competition: Five Key Highlights Ahead of Kickoff

To identify, nurture, and select high-quality projects, and to accelerate the construction of a business ecosystem, data ecosystem, and capital ecosystem centered on the national team in health and medical care, China Electronics Data Service Co., Ltd.Jointly with medical consortiums and other institutions, co-hosted the inaugural China Health and Medical Big Data Industry Innovation Competition. SinceSince its launch on May 11, 2018, this competition has garnered widespread attention within the industry. With just two weeks remaining until the first regional finals, here are “Five Key Highlights” to help you quickly get up to speed if you are not yet familiar with the event.

 

Highlight 1: Strong backing from national-level teams paves a broad path for high-quality projects

To implement the directives of the CPC Central CommitteeIn line with the spirit of “promoting the application of big data in health and medical care” and implementing the requirements set forth in Document No. 47 issued by the General Office of the State Council, efforts have been made to advance the development and application of national health and medical big data. In 2017, under the leadership of the former National Health and Family Planning Commission, three major state-owned health and medical big data groups were officially established, among which is China Health and Medical Big Data Industry Development Group Co., Ltd.


As a specialized platform company under China Electronics Corporation (CEC) that provides data integration, management, and application services for key national industries and departments, China Health and Medical Big Data Industry Development Group Co., Ltd. focuses on building“Security” and “Intelligence” are its two core capabilities. Meanwhile, China Electronics Data has extensively and deeply participated in national projects on health and medical big data and joined relevant key organizations, establishing itself as a national team player in the development of the health and medical big data industry. Its roles include serving as the entity responsible for the planning, construction, and operation of the National Pilot Project (Fuzhou) for the Construction of National Health and Medical Big Data Centers and Industrial Parks; acting as the sole implementing unit for the National Development and Reform Commission’s key “Internet + Healthcare” project; co-establishing the National Engineering Laboratory for Medical Big Data Application Technology; and serving as the secretariat unit of the Professional Committee on Industry Development and Information Security under the Chinese Society for Health Informatics and Medical Big Data (also known as the China Health and Medical Big Data Industry Alliance).


To cultivate a healthy medical industry ecosystem, CEC Health Fund, under CEC Data, has joined forces with Medlinker, SPDB Silicon Valley Bank, Tasly Capital, Lingyi Center, Qihuang Traditional Chinese Medicine Foundation, Danxi Technology, Zhongguancun Technology Leasing, VCBeat, and other institutions to jointly launch the China Health and Medical Big Data Industry Innovation Competition.

 

Highlight 2: Extending invitations nationwide to attract the most innovative thinkers

The competition’s recruitment scope extends across China, with the entire course of events lasting nearlyOver a five-month period, seven city-based competition zones were established across China in Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, and Wuhan. Following preliminary screenings, 30 high-quality projects from each city advanced to the regional finals for intense competition. The top three contenders from each zone were then ranked to select the top 5 in the “Angel Star” category, the top 15 in the “Growth Star” category, and the top 5 in the “Basic Data” category. Additionally, five candidates from the “Rising Star” category received targeted invitations to the National Finals, where they competed for gold, silver, and bronze awards, as well as business collaboration and resource-matching opportunities with the “National Team.”

Highlight 3: Comprehensive Coverage of the Medical Field, Optimal Selection Across Four Major Categories“Potential Stock”

To salvage"The Most Innovative Fish" – This competition casts a wide net, inviting applications from technology-driven and business model innovation startups in China’s healthcare sector, as well as broad data-related projects in the TMT (Technology, Media, and Telecom) space.


Technological innovation projects include, but are not limited to, those in the fields of the Internet, big data, artificial intelligence, data governance technology, blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), genetic testing, and smart devices.


Business model innovation categories include, but are not limited to, smart Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), TCM herbal decoction pieces, TCM cosmetology, TCM consultation, health and wellness, TCM hospitals, TCM clinics, TCM halls, TCM nursing, TCM big data services, internet healthcare, and pharmaceutical retail./ distribution, primary healthcare, healthcare informatics, consumer healthcare services, maternal and infant care, rehabilitation and nursing, medical consultation and pharmaceutical services, health management, health insurance, artificial intelligence, medical staff tools, and innovations in various testing services.


Pan-data projects include, but are not limited to, data security technologies, cloud security technologies, algorithms, and computing power.


Based on the aforementioned fields, we have divided the competition into four categories, namely: MedicalThe “Angel Star” group, the “Growth Star” group, and the “Rising Star” group, along with the TMT “Basic Data” group. Through preliminary rounds, regional finals, and the China Grand Finals, the most promising “potential stocks” from each group will emerge as winners, securing competition awards and high-quality partnership resources, thereby laying a solid foundation for their development into “high-performing stocks.”
