VCBeat has learned exclusively that on August 3, Shanghai Zhudong Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Zhudong Technology”) announced the completion of a RMB 330 million angel financing round, setting a new record for angel financing in China’s brain-computer interface sector.
This round of financing was led by CAS Star, with participation from Legendstar Capital, Unity Ventures, Dalton Venture, InnoAngel Fund, BGI Songhe Life Science Fund, Jifeng Ventures, and Jiadao Capital.
The funds raised will be primarily allocated to facility expansion, equipment enhancement, advancement of clinical trials, and team expansion, thereby comprehensively accelerating the clinical translation and industrial commercialization of invasive brain-computer interface products.
Zhudong Technology, established in February 2026, is a cutting-edge platform enterprise dedicated to the research, development, and commercialization of invasive brain-computer interface technologies.
Leveraging its engineering expertise and academic accumulation in hardware system R&D, neural signal encoding/decoding algorithms, and animal validation, Zhudong Technology has established end-to-end independent R&D capabilities spanning flexible electrodes, specialized chips, decoding algorithms, and system integration. The company is committed to advancing the clinical application of motor, visual, and emotional brain-computer interfaces.
Currently, Zhudong Tech has established a 2,500-square-meter facility integrating office space and GMP-compliant workshops, and has entered a stable phase of R&D and production. Brain-computer interfaces are one of the six clearly defined future industries in the “15th Five-Year Plan,” standing alongside quantum technology, biomanufacturing, hydrogen energy and nuclear fusion energy, embodied intelligence, and sixth-generation mobile communications, representing a core area of national strategic foresight and layout.

Motor, Visual, and Emotional Pathways: A Tripartite Approach
Currently, Zhudong Technology has built a product matrix of brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) in three major categories: motor, visual, and emotional. It is the domestic company with the most comprehensive product line coverage in the field of invasive BCIs.
Among them, the motor brain-computer interface "Tianshu" is designed for patients with motor and language impairments caused by stroke, spinal cord injury, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and other conditions, aiming to help paralyzed patients achieve motor function reconstruction.
In November 2025, the core team at Zhudong Technology obtained China’s first type-test report for a 1024-channel invasive brain-computer interface (BCI) system. As a result, its flagship product, “Tianshu,” became the first 1024-channel invasive BCI system in China to pass type testing, with a channel count comparable to Neuralink’s current product.
“Higher channel counts mean greater brain signal throughput and more refined information decoding capabilities, laying an independent and controllable hardware foundation for high-bandwidth human-computer interaction,” Wu Guojia introduced to VCBeat.
He pointed out that the “Tianshu” product is about to initiate clinical trials with a 1,024-channel system, and the company is expected to become the first in China to conduct clinical trials on a 1,024-channel invasive brain-computer interface.
